Ben Ball in Transition
As we wait impatiently for the start of the "Neu Era," we also contemplate the impact of the new Ben Ball Warriors as the 2008-2009 roster becomes clearer. Yes, we will miss Russell Westbrook and possibly Mbah a Moute. And the hole in the middle is like losing your first Love.
The attached video segment (from a local broadcast of "Sports Stars of Tomorrow") gives us a look at Kevin Love moving on and background on Drew Gordon who is expected to help fill the void. A lot is said about Gordon's 94-foot length of the court basket as a sophomore; the fact that Gordon originally played ice hockey before turning to basketball; that he competed in Track & Field (Shotput and discus); and why he decided to come to UCLA.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Great video
Admittedly, I knew very little about DG before he signed with the Bruins but the one dominant feature that jumps out at you from this feature, was what a real character guy he seems to be. Grounded, family oriented and strong. I thought he was going to be a frail, long 4 who would struggle at the five spot in college, but anyone who puts the shot and throws the discuss and who grew up loving hockey is going to be a beast down low. Loosing Luc will not hurt as much now knowing DG can more than fill the void and the paint.
Happy Father’s Day to all BN Fathers. I going to be with my fam know. Enjoy each of yours!
Go Bruins.
Happy Father's Day to you too
I have to pass along that my wife and kids just finished leading me on a scavenger hunt around the house, with gifts at each stop. The gifts were UCLA gear, and little touches from around Westwood, like DD Reese cookies. My wife and kids rock….
Awesome Clip!
Gordon has been the wild card of this recruiting class. Since he was injured earlier this year (cast he’s wearing in the video) there hasn’t been much talk about him. Those put back dunks are going to look really nice in Pauley this season. Just watching that clip had me considering season tickets again. Too bad I didn’t watch that before June 1st’s Select a Seat day. The most impressive part about the video, other than the 94 ft shot, was how intelligent Gordon seems to be. He answered every question confidently and said he would “Die for his family”. I can’t think of a better sentiment of Father’s Day.
Thanks, Tele
What a great video introduction to a very special kid. (Love the little brother!) I’m really excited about watching CBH develop this athlete into a Warrior.
And you’re so right, Eagle…the team will likely benefit a great deal in the paint from his hockey and field event background.
Does anyone have details on the injury?
