Former Bruin, Bruce Davis Interview
Blitzburgh over at the Steelers blog recently conducted an interview with former Bruin, Bruce Davis. Davis, among other things talks about the weight he's gained since his final UCLA game, his new coaching staff and players and how his life has changed since being drafted. Davis will convert from defensive end to outside linebacker in Pittsburgh and his pass rush abilities should help him contribute as a rookie.
I didn't get the opportunity to watch a ton of UCLA football this past season but I have read that he's played some outside linebacker in years past. How do you guys/gals think he'll handle the position change and how immediate of an impact do you think he'll have? Also do you guys know what kind of guy he was off the field or in the locker room?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

He's unabashedly loyal, for starters
He’s a good kid and he has a real sense of loyalty. He had Dorrell’s back to the very end. Dorrell recruited the kid and the kid never gave up on his coach, although he would have been perfectly justified given how blatantly horrible Dorrell was as a head coach.
I know loyalty is a big deal to the Rooney family (as their head coach hiring and retention track record indicates), so if anything, I think they got a guy who will fit right in with the culture of that organization.

Bruce is a good kid
He is also an emotional player who has an incredible sense of loyalty. In a way his persona reminds me a lot of former UCLA basketball great Earl Watson, who prospered on the court through his hard work even though he didn’t get any directions from his head coach.
But Bruce did improve significantly under the DeWayne Walker in his last two years at UCLA. I think he has a chance of doing well as an OLB. He was somewhat undersized as a DE. I think one of the knacks against BD might have been was that sometimes he got a little too wound up.
Otherwise he is a great athlete and very hard worker. I think he will be perfect for Pittsburgh Steelers. Can’t wait to see how he performs in the coming years.
