Love's Diet
I am surprised none of you flagged this post on Love's diet, Jeff Eisenberg published the PE.com's blog last week.
Obviously Love has been a huge success in the NBA draft (to date). He did everything a kid in shoes to get himself ready for the draft, which included a hardcore workout routine and a meticulous diet:
A sample of Love's diet
Breakfast: American Omelet
Fresh omelet cooked with diced turkey, chopped tomatoes, bell peppers, and onions. Served with a side of fresh fruit.
Lunch: Chicken Scallopini
Strips of chicken, red peppers and currants sautéed in a mango chutney sauce. Served with steamed vegetables and a red leaf lettuce salad.
Afternoon Snack: Vanilla Yogurt
Dinner: Citrus Salmon
Fresh Atlantic salmon marinated overnight in a ginger citrus sauce, grilled, and served with sautéed asparagus and a fresh green salad.
Evening Snack: Apple, Cheese, Peanut Butter
Can't go wrong with grilled Salmon (my mouth is watering as I type it).
GO BRUINS.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Maybe I'll try the KLove diet tomorrow...
...on second thought, I can’t cook. Forget it.

K-Love Diet
The common thread here is no carbs. Kinda like the South Beach Diet. My doctor says just eat proteins, veg & fruits. It it is white, it ain’t right e.g. rice, pasta, potato, bread.

What's interesting to me
is that Kevin’s diet, presented as a model of healthy eating, comes to me while I’m in the midst of a 30-day gonna-try-my-damndest-to-lose-my-gut diet. I’ve been eating sawdust shakes, celery, and some strange green liquid as two of my daily meals for 21 days now.
So, Kevin’s lean-and-mean-efficiency diet looks, to me, like reckless abandon and Bacchanalian revelry. My one real meal of the day is akin to Kevin’s dinner. I’m salivating onto my keyboard reading about his breakfast and lunch.

This sounds great.
I’ve been watching what I eat, eating mostly salads, and the like. This write up fits a lot of the same advice I’ve heard from people who know their foods.
Now, who’s willing to go on a “Love Diet” and report back regularly with their results? I know I am.
Also: I don’t know if you guys have heard of this study on the results of Microwaves on food. Long story short: it messes up food and causes your body to surround it with fat. So basically, I eat my food cold rather than nuke it to reheat it. Also: avoid food with MSG in it. It also makes the body produce fat.

don't forget...
I’m sure an important part of the “Love diet” is the exercise. Anyone that stays on the diet and works out 4-5 hours per day will lose some weight. Heck… you could probably eat double that plus a cheeseburger if you worked out that much.
And just for kicks…. from Draft Express before the draft.
We discussed during the pre-draft camp just how incredibly out of shape Davon Jefferson looks, and the combine results did nothing to dissuade that notion, as he came out measuring 12% body fat. A guy that clearly looked like one of the best athletes in the NCAA for most of the season seems intent on doing everything humanly possible to tank his draft stock—lifting the 185 bar just twice, running very poorly in the lane agility and ¾ court sprint, and to add insult to injury, measuring out an inch and a half (6-6 ½ in shoes) shorter than he was listed at USC. He showed almost no competitive fire when things mattered at the pre-draft camp. For a player who was never going to impress anyone with his skill level or intangibles, all this combined is probably going to cause him to go undrafted.
From the sound of it… DUHvon Jefferson microwaves all his food… then dips it in MSG.

microwave
I noooo! Say it ain’t so!!! Can’t eat without the microwave. Can you refer me to any medical authority or articles on this? Daaang, I’d still rather be overweight than look like an undernourished vegan.

I’m also interested in seeing this report…any links?

Not a link, no.
I have a PDF file of the study summary. If I can find a way to upload it or post it, I will. Any suggestions by the more web savvy members will be taken very seriously.
I originally learned of this through an email with the PDF file attached.

microwaving is fine
it’s actually better than cooking you foods on high heats (grilling, frying, etc.) as those are much more likley to release carcinogens and denature the nutrients in your foods. but in all honesty, as long as its not deep fried, cooking methods are generally irrelevant as long as you’re taking a good multivitamin supplement every morning and have a balanced diet.
i’m planning to get my PT license after graduating, so if anyone wants any advice i’d be glad to help :) whether or not you want to take it or not its up to you guys haha.
oh yeah, and K-Love’s diet is totally low carb, high in good fats and high in protein. good plan for losing the weight quickly.

To Bruinut
What you have to keep in mind is that Kevin’s diet is designed around also doing intense work outs, not going to an office job. If you work out, you can eat a diet such as this: high in protein, low in carbs, and you can lose fat and gain muscle.

Microwave
It is my utensil of choice., the only cooking skill that I have is putting something in the microwave and starting it.
I could starve to death.

Diets
I highly recommend Weight Watchers. It worked for me last year when I dropped 20 pounds before my wedding. I’m happy to say I have been able to keep it off.
What is great about Weight Watchers is that you can eat the foods you like, you just have to know where to fit them in. I will admit the first couple of days are hard, but once you figure out what you will not give up and where it fit them in, it gets easier.

Wow, really pushed the button too soon.
I was going to say that I’m with BB on this. I’m following the WW regimen (not going to the meetings and spending the $$) and have dropped a significant percentage of the excess pounds. Still a ways to go, but I’m getting there. I miss cake, but that’s the way it goes.

Went to Applebee's the other day
while on my 30-day self torture. Once I skipped past the triple-cheese and prosciutto-stuffed items, I discovered that they had a WW page in their menu. There were quite a few meals that were low-cal, low-carb, and sounded good. Mine was terrific, and filling, yet only 370 cals. Nice veggies instead of french fries. Good stuff.
It’s still a lot easier to eat badly when you eat out, but, if you can manage to rein in old habits, it is possible to eat well.

Ah, but Fox, if you play enough golf
You can earn enough points to get your cake. I will admit, I love my fast food. So, I took my walk during my lunch at work, then either went to the indoor pool or walked on the treadmill after work. I saved up all my points so I could splurge on the weekends.
I did the same things as you. I just did it online. I knew I didn’t need the meetings or other stuff. I just needed a safe, healthy way to drop the extra pounds. I don’t know how it worked, but it did.
