8. UCLA: The schedule is brutal (Tennessee, BYU and Fresno State are the nonconference games). The offensive line may be brutalized. New coach Rick Neuheisel didn't inherit much talent, and that figures to show on the field, no matter how good the coaching staff is.

Wow
I am not expecting miracles but EIGHTH? Well, hopefully that will provide something for the bulletin board and give UCLA something to prove…
GO BRUINS!!!
The comment doesn't
exactly go with the story, because our non-conference schedule has nothing to do with our conference finish.
The point really is that Nestor and others have been honestly trying to temper expectations for the coming season. We’ve had other blogs accuse us of downplaying expectations to provide more of a honeymoon for Rick Neuheisel.
Having ESPN predict an 8th place finish isn’t proof-positive that this is a rebuilding year, but it’s another piece of evidence that we as UCLA fans might do well to curb our enthusiasm and exuberance for 2008—despite the positives that flow from the coaching change.
Go Bruins
Haha, doesn't matter
I just thought Ty had the best comment on this subject in general (the lower expectations conspiracy accusations). I didn’t that kind of wit to get missed in the shuffle.
I was just trying...
...to draw a connection between what Menelaus and N said earlier about lower expectations (and how SMQ tried, but failed, to blast BN for those expectations).
Everyone sees how reasonable it is for us to have lower expectations this season (except for SMQ and the SEC Circle Jerkers), and I thought the ESPN ranking fit into the running theme of lower expectations here at BN, and hence, the allusion to the Menelaus post.
