Who is Ted Miller, and what did he do to get a column?

I heard of Ted Miller earlier this evening. He was wrong in my opinion with his take on UCLA basketball. Now, I hear of him for a second time, and he reveals a perfectly trOJan inability to see the obvious. Here is his perception of trOJan football: “USC is completely open with its practices and players.” Er, Ted, can you help me a bit. I’m having a little trouble getting openness with regard to bu$h. Or hadn’t you noticed that little incident.

For those with the connection, key up Jim Healy’s bit with Wally Joyner and (I think) Bert Blyleven saying, “Wow, what a nerd!” And then follow that up with a comment about Miller going the Leonard Tose route – “Leonard Tose has, ah, lost it.” Jim, you left us way too soon. You would be having a ball with the justsc surgeons and guys like Miller.

Lighten up. Ted is blogging on ESPN and doing a pretty good job. We are not always going to agree with him but that doesn’t mean anyone should be dismissing him off hand.

If he were writing in a light-hearted manner, I wouldn't get worked up

But he’s coming off, at least to me, as a blowhard. Blowhardity is something of which I am guilty lots of times, and therefore I find it more obnoxious in others than many. I’m heartily unimpressed with Lenorad Tose, I mean, Ted Miller.

(Besides – I’m in a funk. It’s raining and I can’t play golf. What’s the point of living on a golf course if it’s going to rain? If I wanted that, I could move to Seattle (another NBA-free city.) I want to be grumpy, and I deserve to be grumpy, and my grumpiness (and blowhardity) at present is directed at this guy Miller. So there.)

Another bogus list!

In my opinion, it’s more like this (at least within the Pac-10):
1. USC (fans + coach + cheaters + win too much)
2. Stanford (more obnoxious fans I do not know)
3. Oregon (the Phil Knight factor + jerseys)
4. California (see 2 + Lee Corso’s drool)
5. Arizona State (the Pac-10’s newest Thug U)
6. UCLA
7. Arizona (fans + coach’s sideline antics)
8. Washington (too much pity right now…)
9. Oregon State (um…they’re in Corvallis…punishment enough)
10. Washington State (ditto 9…Pullman…)

Miller’s list pretty much mirrors the teams’ records in the last few years. Gotta do some work, man! It’s all about the obnoxious fans!

My personal hierarchy of hatred

1. USC Band – arrogance without reason
2. USC Team – arrogance (albeit with reason), and total corruption
3. Cal – most obnoxious fans, for no good reason since the team is horrible
4. Oregon – obnoxious fans, plus as Bob Toledo once said, they have the best ownership in college sports.
5. ASU – suntan U. Admissions standards require fogging a mirror.
6. U of A – Basically because of Lute.
After that, who cares?
