Barry Bonds Gets His Alphabets All Mixed Up
According to Larry Brown Sports, San Francisco Giant's "slugger" Barry Bonds wants to remain involved in baseball by coaching in the college ranks. And there is one school he has in mind:
Bonds also added that coaching at UCLA seemed ideal because of its proximity to his current home, but was torn because he’s not keen on helping a team that competes against Arizona State — his alma mater.
Uh ... clearly Barry has his alphabets all mixed up.
He must have been thinking of USC, the other program from LA where he would totally fit in.
GO BRUINS.

Bonds actually has spent a lot of time at UCLA
He rented our the batting cages at Jackie Robinson Stadium on a regular basis during the offseason and gave a lot of Bruins free batting lessons when he’d see them hitting. I’ve never liked the guy, but he’s spent a lot of time around the stadium and helped out the team some.

That's nice
But I don’t want to see him in a Bruin uniform.

Obviously not
but the guy has helped out the program before. There’s no way he could ever be our coach and the fact that he even has the idea in his mind is comical.

He had to have been thinking of justsc
He’s such a perfect fit for that place. Plus, at justsc he could score more “liniment” and “ointment” and all that other stuff that had nothing to do with having his head grow to about the size of basketball. And he could give back to the community, too. He could help the trOJans with the various techinques of denial (e.g., angry denial, quizzical denial, tear-filled denial, etc.)

Regarding Troy Glaus
Has there ever been one shred of actual evidence connecting Troy Glaus to performance enhancing drug?. I will be the first in line to denounce any Bruin who used performance enhancing drugs, but to the best of my knowledge, there isn’t any.
OTOH, Bonds has already admitted using them (unknowingly), there was a mountain evidence about his drug use in the Balco case, and he is currently under indictment for lying about his drug use to the Grand Jury. I really don’t think linking Glaus to Bonds is a good idea, particularly on a Bruins blog.

He was in the Mitchell Report
In a September 2007 article, Sports Illustrated reported that Glaus received shipments of nandrolone and testosterone from Signature Pharmacy from 2003 to 2004. According to the article, Glaus had received a prescription for these materials from a California anti-aging clinic. One of Glaus’ prescribing doctors, Ramon Scruggs, had his medical license suspended for making illegal prescriptions. Glaus met with the Commissioner’s Office regarding this situation, and Commissioner Bud Selig did not impose any discipline.

wow
This would be incredible, and I’m sure most Nor Cal Bruins/SF Giants fans would agree. I’d imagine even without the steroid scandal, most of you Dodger fans wouldn’t want him as a UCLA coach but doggone it, this is getting me excited.!

Not Buying It
I see Savage thus far building his program the right way, like Howland. It sends the wrong message to bring in someone who is this radioactive from an ethical standpoint. Not to mention his presence would overshadow the team and for all the wrong reasons. Why should our guys have to answer questions about sterioids? There is a lot of goodwill here built up for the baseball team because of their revitalization under Savage. If rye, who brings us so much news that I suspect he is on the team, believes that Bonds is a no go, then that seals it. No perjury, no roids, no interest, no Bonds.
