Jordan Farmar Making Us Proud
A Refreshing Alternative to the "It's all about me" athletes.

There's a great AP article, in today's Houston Chronicle, about Jordan Farmar's efforts to to help close the gap between the next generation of Israelis and Palestinians.
Here's a part of it:
Los Angeles Laker guard Jordan Farmar, the NBA's only Jewish player, showed his dribbling and slam-dunking skills at a clinic in Southern israel on Tuesday for Jewish and Arab kids.
Farmar was the guest of the Peres Center for Peace. One of its goals is to try to bring kids together through sports.
If you recall, Farmar talked about the trip after the NBA season ended. He mentioned wanting to use his skills and crowd recognition in a positive way.
It looks like he not only talked the talk but also walked the walk.
Thank you Jordan for representing us so well. It's great to have one of our own in the headlines for using his status in such a positive way.

That's great
It’s always amazing to read about an athlete trying to do more for a good cause.
Do you have a link?

Couldn't Find the Link
Living in Exile, I find the Houston Chronicle outside my door, every day.
I went to the online version of the paper, www.houstonchronicle.com but could not find the story.
Sorry.

A bit surprised...
...that JF is the NBA’s only Jewish player. I never thought to look into it, but I sort of assumed that before JF there were other Jewish NBA players.
Interesting bit of information and it’s always nice to see one of our Ben Ball Warriors doing something great like this (as compared to U$C’s former “student” athletes, who just take money, do drugs, and bring gun-toting thugs to depositions).

Also,
Jordan is also doing a “green” basketball camp for kids. He rented out Pauley for the camp, in which every child will receive a bio-degradable yoga mat.

only jewish player
right now, doesn’t seem to indicate that there weren’t any before. although the fact that he’s the only one in the league right now is mildly surprising. him and david stern. btw, i echo everyone else’s sentiments, great job jordan!

Jewish NBA players
If I remember correctly, there was a time in the NBA’s history (or whatever league it used to be) when Jewish players pretty much dominated basketball. It seems a documentary was also made on the subject.

I was at football practice
and while walking to the practice field I passed Coach Howland who was talking with somebody and I overheard him say AA got some great reviews from scouts for his play this summer. Hopefully he can earn himself more minutes this year and continue to improve his game.

Rye, I've heard the same
Michael Curry apparently love Arron- his problem is that AA is a 2 only, and Stuckey, Chauncey, and Rip dominate the PG/SG minutes. I expect him to get around 10 a game and then grow into a bigger role, possibly if/when Stuckey gets the reins in somewhere around two years.
