3 and out...

At least Craft didn’t force a throw, and gained a couple yards

by bruinhoo on Sep 1, 2008 7:10 PM PDT reply actions

At least he made a good decision

By taking off with it and not forcing it in there again.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:11 PM PDT reply actions

Craft looked a bit better..

…but you got to put the ball in a place for your WR to make the play. Throwing behind a guy like Johnson on a quick slant isn’t going to work. Get the ball to him in stride and he can make something happen.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:12 PM PDT reply actions

What I've noticed

Is that since Paulsen went down, we haven’t looked at the TE again (except for when Craft tried to force a pass to Moya, which they took back for that damn TD).

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:14 PM PDT reply actions

Wish Davis was here...

…with his athleticism, he might have made the INT that Bosworth just missed.

Oh well.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:16 PM PDT reply actions

Way too much time

Got to bring the pressure. Don’t know why Walker is going away from it, but we had Crompton on his heels the whole first half.

wow

Rahim Moore!!!

WHAT A HUGE BREAK.

THERE IT IS!!

Now…

LET’S GO!!

First down

Ugly ugly ugly, but it’s there

by bruinchick on Sep 1, 2008 7:19 PM PDT reply actions

If we can sustain a drive...

…wear down the defense a little, maybe we can create a big hole for the running game.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:20 PM PDT reply actions

Austin is a stud

Took a hell of a hit to hold on to the ball.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:20 PM PDT reply actions

Talk about poise

Austin just showed some mojo there

by bruinchick on Sep 1, 2008 7:20 PM PDT reply actions

Draw play ...

Man .. haven’t seen in that in a long time.

by Nestor on Sep 1, 2008 7:21 PM PDT reply actions

ymmv, but...

My own experience having had a minor foot fracture a few years back was crutches for a week, cast for about a month.

by bruinhoo on Sep 1, 2008 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions

Injury update

Bell: ankle injury – out for game
Paulsen: fractured right foot
Everett: still no update

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:21 PM PDT reply actions

Everett has dislocated toe

that’s what I heard in the first half.

by Nestor on Sep 1, 2008 7:22 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh I meant

No update since that first half update. He was on the sideline in pads standing on his own; I was wondering if they would shut him down or if he would come back.

As to that, still no update, although I suspect he’s done for the game.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:24 PM PDT up reply actions

First holding penalty?

Under KD, at this time, we’d have at least 5 holding penalties.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:22 PM PDT reply actions

It's all good

We had a bit of a drive, gave the defense a bit of rest, and pushed them back up the field.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:23 PM PDT reply actions

Don't know if it's all good

but it’s a hell of a lot better than an INT

by impaulv on Sep 1, 2008 7:23 PM PDT up reply actions

Exactly

Given the first half, I’ll take it. We are still down by only 7 and our defense got some much needed rest.

We just need to keep it close going into the fourth quarter.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

agreed

but we also need to make their D work some more. Make em run!

by impaulv on Sep 1, 2008 7:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Beautiful

Defense forced a fumble in the red zone, offense got a bit of a drive, defense got a rest, and Tenn. starts at their own 20. If the defense can pick up another stop, we’ll be in solid field position.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:23 PM PDT reply actions

I can't believe

they’d run that Citi commercial during a football game.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Whew!

For a minute, it looked like Norris got smoked bad.

Got to get more pressure on Crompton. Cannot give him that kind of time.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:27 PM PDT reply actions

that was solid coverage by norris, cant really ask him to do much better than that with no help over top – just a perfect pass

by jtthirtyfour on Sep 1, 2008 7:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Phew

Dodged a bullet there … unfortunately they have discovered Norris.

by Nestor on Sep 1, 2008 7:28 PM PDT reply actions

Norris won't be a liability...

…if we can get more pressure on Crompton. But to do so, our defense needs some rest and for that to happen, Craft needs to sustain a drive, even if just for a FG.

Forbath is a stud. We got to play field position and pick up points when our offense sputters.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeap

We need to get some points in this drive … BADLY.

by Nestor on Sep 1, 2008 7:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Which, I think, means...

…no more forcing the long throw and dumping it off on a check down and taking 3 or 4 yards and helping set up a FG.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 7:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Good Hold By Our "D"

Gotta admit that was a beautiful throw by Crompton; I though his receiver had it until I saw the replay.

Why does it look so dark at the Rose Bowl?

Plenty of light here in Sacramento. Last time I checked, we’re in the same state.

No bad throw, picking up some yards. Good call.

Not trying to throw it away and fumbling or throwing a pick. We’ll set up the FG and hopefully Forbath can bang in 3 points.

Good Drive...

Hated the sack that ruined our chances of putting it in the house but we got some points out of it and gave our “D” some rest. And Craft is starting to look a lot more relaxed out there and thinking better.

by Nestor on Sep 1, 2008 7:43 PM PDT up reply actions

we’re getting good pressure with just price, harwell, bosworth…against that “veteran offensive line”

by jtthirtyfour on Sep 1, 2008 7:45 PM PDT up reply actions

It would be sooooo cool

if our D could keep up this pressure.

If KD was in charge...

….I’d predict the score going into the 4th quarter would be something like 38-7. Lots of 3 and outs. Lots of tired defenses giving the Vols big plays. Lots of weak-ass punt in their territory type plays.

There’s NO WAY we would have been in this game last year. The coaches must be feeding these kids a giant dose of attitude, because they would have crapped out by this time in the KD era. We have most of our O sidelined, a jittery QB, and we’re STILL only four points down?

Should have kept the pressure on Crompton

Not feeling letting him have all that time to move the ball down the field.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 8:46 PM PDT reply actions

On the other hand

I never would have expected to be here, so…. who knows what we could pull off?

by bruinchick on Sep 1, 2008 8:48 PM PDT reply actions

This just means...

…Craft needs to take our offense back into the end zone and punch in another TD and let our defense get it done.

Can't say I'm a fan of ucla...

But I can’t really say I’m a big fan of all of the SEC is the best BS either. This game is by far the best of the opening week!

Heckuva thing to watch. Great composure by Craft in the second half. Congrats on the win!

Amazing win for ucla

I still cannot believe I’m saying this, but it looks like your so called “dream team” of coaches has already payed off.

by Laughing Stock on Sep 1, 2008 9:03 PM PDT reply actions

Wow

I have nothing else to add. And I make my living with words.

Our QB looks like Brady. In the first half, it was Marcia, in the second it was Tom.

by Fox 71 on Sep 1, 2008 9:04 PM PDT reply actions

Wow Great Game

Louisville fan here (We USED to play D-I football) That was an awesome game, awesome story for Coach Rick and Craft and your whole team. Made a fan out of me!

by JohnnyCards on Sep 1, 2008 9:04 PM PDT reply actions

Just think Bruins

We have two weeks to go back to practice, look at film, and iron out the kinks in our game. If we can get to the point where Craft doesn’t look terrible in the first half, we’ll be able to play with a lot of teams.

Defense was excellent. They held Tennessee and kept us in it. Awesome win.

by norcald503 on Sep 1, 2008 9:05 PM PDT reply actions

It worked!

I sat out OT and came back to see the celebration. Woo hoo!

they'll be talking about this one for a while

this is great national exposure for our football program! even if most people on the east coast are asleep, it’ll be on sportscenter tomorrow i’m sure

Nice Interview with Craft after game

He showed poise and humility and maturity, etc. We may be in better hands than we thought.

Will always remember

Neu with his fist in the air after Tennessee made that field goal.

Something I noticed

Tenn: 8 penalties for 45 yards
UCLA: 2 penalties for 25 yards

Granted 1 of our penalties eventually put them in position to score but I’m SO glad no more huge #’s of dumb penalties like the last few years

GO BRUINS
