Let's hope the defense can keep it going ...

Let's Go.

Craft looked a bit better..
…but you got to put the ball in a place for your WR to make the play. Throwing behind a guy like Johnson on a quick slant isn’t going to work. Get the ball to him in stride and he can make something happen.
What I've noticed
Is that since Paulsen went down, we haven’t looked at the TE again (except for when Craft tried to force a pass to Moya, which they took back for that damn TD).
Wish Davis was here...
…with his athleticism, he might have made the INT that Bosworth just missed.
Oh well.
Way too much time
Got to bring the pressure. Don’t know why Walker is going away from it, but we had Crompton on his heels the whole first half.
If we can sustain a drive...
…wear down the defense a little, maybe we can create a big hole for the running game.
ymmv, but...
My own experience having had a minor foot fracture a few years back was crutches for a week, cast for about a month.
Injury update
Bell: ankle injury – out for game
Paulsen: fractured right foot
Everett: still no update
Oh I meant
No update since that first half update. He was on the sideline in pads standing on his own; I was wondering if they would shut him down or if he would come back.
As to that, still no update, although I suspect he’s done for the game.
It's all good
We had a bit of a drive, gave the defense a bit of rest, and pushed them back up the field.
Exactly
Given the first half, I’ll take it. We are still down by only 7 and our defense got some much needed rest.
We just need to keep it close going into the fourth quarter.
Beautiful
Defense forced a fumble in the red zone, offense got a bit of a drive, defense got a rest, and Tenn. starts at their own 20. If the defense can pick up another stop, we’ll be in solid field position.
Whew!
For a minute, it looked like Norris got smoked bad.
Got to get more pressure on Crompton. Cannot give him that kind of time.
Norris won't be a liability...
…if we can get more pressure on Crompton. But to do so, our defense needs some rest and for that to happen, Craft needs to sustain a drive, even if just for a FG.
Forbath is a stud. We got to play field position and pick up points when our offense sputters.
Which, I think, means...
…no more forcing the long throw and dumping it off on a check down and taking 3 or 4 yards and helping set up a FG.
Good Hold By Our "D"
Gotta admit that was a beautiful throw by Crompton; I though his receiver had it until I saw the replay.

Hm...
Methinks the networks have discovered that chicks dig football.
That Levis commercial was NOT for guys.
Why does it look so dark at the Rose Bowl?
Plenty of light here in Sacramento. Last time I checked, we’re in the same state.
You're further north
It gets darker later the further north you go until later this month.

Actually...
…last year we would have saw Training Jay yelling into a headset and/or looking clueless.
This is very good for Craft
and the Embree family showing class with the kid staying after dad left
sjh
Way to hold on to the ball
Not trying to throw it away and fumbling or throwing a pick. We’ll set up the FG and hopefully Forbath can bang in 3 points.
Something to love
CRN disappointed he has to send the FG team in.
Last year we played to put it in.
sjh
3 is a helluva lot better than a pick ;)

First apperance by Fobrath late in the 3rd quarter
Nothing against the kid, but I’m loving the Neu era.
Good Drive...
Hated the sack that ruined our chances of putting it in the house but we got some points out of it and gave our “D” some rest. And Craft is starting to look a lot more relaxed out there and thinking better.

One thing about a horrible first appearance
is you have so much room to improve, and he might learn that he can turn his performance around.
To answer an earlier question
Yes, it does look like the band has new uniforms.

whatever happens now
the neu era has started well
but I’d still like them to stop them on this drive and get the ball back and go ahead
Huge Play Here Guys

There we go
Get some pressure on the kid, force a bad throw. Got to do that to help out our secondary. Come on defense!
I swear it seems like we shouldn't be this close
The team is NOT giving up… the difference from last year is like night and day
On an unrelated note...
I like how the new system posts thread updates without my having to refresh.
If KD was in charge...
….I’d predict the score going into the 4th quarter would be something like 38-7. Lots of 3 and outs. Lots of tired defenses giving the Vols big plays. Lots of weak-ass punt in their territory type plays.
They Got Us In A Hole Again
Hope we can get something going again; get it out of there and move the chains some. It’s a game of field position now.

I Have To Admit
I haven’t seen our “D” play such inspiring ball since, uh, 13-9.

Amazing
We are in this game with a running “attack” averaging 1.1 yards per carry.
Amazing and speaks well of Chow.
sjh
He is able to scheme around our weaknesses
We no we have no O line and are working with what we have.
sjh
I'm just shaking my head here...
There’s NO WAY we would have been in this game last year. The coaches must be feeding these kids a giant dose of attitude, because they would have crapped out by this time in the KD era. We have most of our O sidelined, a jittery QB, and we’re STILL only four points down?
Short passing game
Loving it. Didn’t love the prayer to Embree, but nice that the chips fell our way on that one.
Good heads up play by Craft, throw at the man being held. Nice.
Penalties
TN – 9 penalties for 55 yards
UCLA – 1 penalty for 10 yards
CRN is getting it done. KD, on the other hand, we’d have at least 75 yards in penalties with the squad we have tonight.
Love the crowd getting behind our team
Brothers and sisters, no matter what happens tonight, we are going to be fine.
Just Love CRN's Presence On The Sidelines
Something that was obviously missing the last few years.

The pride in Bruin football is back
No matter what happens in the next eight minutes, Bruin football is no longer a Dorellian joke.
Glad the Rose Bowl is back...
…the way it should be. No more ugly blue C in the end zone and the Rose Bowl is loud and in blue.
We are seeing a great coaching staff working with a good team
CRN has the right emotion at the right time. Leading and teaching.
Chow, totally analytic and precise.
Walker fired up and leding.

Get 'em!
There you go D! Way to step up after a bad penalty. Lovin’ Harwell and Price in the middle.

Hair short?! Bullsh*t!
He was down at least a whole yard before the marker. They got hooked up on that ball spot.
Still plenty of time
Time for NC to put together a solid drive and get us the lead back.
Need our special teams to get a good return and set us up with good field position.
We had them too...
…which is what really hurts. This drive was dead in the water and one penalty gave them life back.
It is such a great game that I believe
Chow’s got plays to bring us back…
such is the state of Bruin football… it’s never over until it’s over
Well, Now We're Going To Have To Take Some Chances When We Get The Ball Back

What a game!!!
Win or lose, I don’t think I’ve enjoyed a UCLA football game this much in, oh, 6 years.
Now, let’s win this thing!
Passion bucket x 10
Is what I expect after this. If any Bruin didn’t believe before, they do now.
The worst thing about being a classics major at UCLA is having to hear about the #@*#$@*&% Trojans every damn day.
Imagine what NC will do
Once CRN and his staff stock this roster with more talent.
Oh yeah, we know what he does. He makes Heisman trophy winners and national champions.
Excited for this program. So f*cking excited.
one of the great season openers since

This just means...
…Craft needs to take our offense back into the end zone and punch in another TD and let our defense get it done.
Can't say I'm a fan of ucla...
But I can’t really say I’m a big fan of all of the SEC is the best BS either. This game is by far the best of the opening week!
Umm, Guys?
I was just thinking that….
THE FOOTBALL MONOPOLY IN THIS TOWN IS OVER.
Thank you, Coach Chow.

CRN GIVING THE LOVE TO EVERYONE BUT HIMSELF
Praises NC and DW and his players. Got to love a coach who takes responsibility and always passes on the credit to the staff and his guys.
Classy.
We have 2 weeks
to bask in this victory!!! BTW did anyone else see how the sideline reporter would follow Neu and continue talking to Neu after the audio went off? That guy’s got CHARISMA!

Amazing win for ucla
I still cannot believe I’m saying this, but it looks like your so called “dream team” of coaches has already payed off.
Wow
I have nothing else to add. And I make my living with words.
Our QB looks like Brady. In the first half, it was Marcia, in the second it was Tom.
How am I supposed to get to sleep and get into work on time tomorrow after this?
Bob O. (Signholder #3)
Wow Great Game
Louisville fan here (We USED to play D-I football) That was an awesome game, awesome story for Coach Rick and Craft and your whole team. Made a fan out of me!
Just think Bruins
We have two weeks to go back to practice, look at film, and iron out the kinks in our game. If we can get to the point where Craft doesn’t look terrible in the first half, we’ll be able to play with a lot of teams.
Defense was excellent. They held Tennessee and kept us in it. Awesome win.
they'll be talking about this one for a while
this is great national exposure for our football program! even if most people on the east coast are asleep, it’ll be on sportscenter tomorrow i’m sure
Nice Interview with Craft after game
He showed poise and humility and maturity, etc. We may be in better hands than we thought.
Something I noticed
Tenn: 8 penalties for 45 yards
UCLA: 2 penalties for 25 yards
Granted 1 of our penalties eventually put them in position to score but I’m SO glad no more huge #’s of dumb penalties like the last few years
GO BRUINS
