PB Unleashed: BYU Game Watch Parties Open Thread

Our thoughts and prayers are with Class of 66 of any other Bruins who might be trying to get out of the way of Ike. So 66 wanted to know what time the game is on Sat. The kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm PST and it will be televised nationally by Versus (Channel 603 on DirecTV). You can check out all the official notes on the game over here:

I'm up in Santa Cruz visiting family...

Does anyone know any places near monterey or San Jose or better yet within Santa Cruz that are showing the game on Versus, or even bars out. Hopefully, Somewhere they’re not all just Cal fans.

Yeah and even more LAME...

There is a Versus HD channel but they have chosen to broadcast a women’s golf tournament until 3pm, then join our game in progress. Shady…

oh and thanks Nestor

for using another one of my photos! I love that one – I am pretty sure the helmet and mouthpiece belong to Aaron Perez (It was next to him on the ground where he was practice-kicking)

GO BRUINS!!!

Programming question

This question is addressed to all of you who reside on the East coast and have experience with Comcast. Do they offer a package for UCLA football? Basketball? I tried calling without much success (I don’t think the lady had much prior knowledge of the existence a sport called Football).

It would be wonderful if they have a subscription package available to those of us living in exile. Furthermore, if indeed I do find a way to follow my bruins live, any and all faithful Bruin fans are welcome to come over – I’m in Sewickley outside Pittsburgh for now, kindly msg me for more details.

Yes

They don’t specifically offer a UCLA package. However, I highly recommend getting the Fox Sports college package which will ensure you get all the FSN broadcast of Pac-10 basketball/football games. This way you should be mostly set. You will just have to hit the bars for ABC’s regional broadcast of football games (or CBS’s regional broadcast of Ben Ball). But its a great deal. I have been very happy with it.

Exactly...

With Comcast, you should be fine if you grab the Fox Sports package (around $10/month). Most Comcast plans also include Versus, so between the two you should be able to locate almost every game for football and basketball (I can’t remember a game that I wasn’t able to find on Comcast between those two options and the regular channels).

yup

Do note that Comcast does not offer the college sports package universally (my former central Virginia home only had the package offered last spring), though I would imagine that the Pittsburgh metro area would likely have the package. My recollection was that Comcast charged $6/month for the package.

To follow along with the spirit of this thread, I may make it to the East Bay/BAB gathering tomorrow.

UCLA games on the East Coast

Hey everyone.. my first comment on Bruins Nation(been lurking for a few months now). Just wanted to second Nestor’s suggestion for getting Fox College Sports to watch UCLA games on the East Coast. Also something good to check on is if you can get access to ESPN360.com. You need to be using an authorized internet service provider (who pays ESPN for the privilege). You can check on the ESPN360.com website to see if Comcast is an authorized ISP. With this, you can watch all of the college football games on the ESPN/ABC networks via the internet.

Go Bruins!

comcast doesnt do espn360…they are like the only major ISP that doesnt offer it.

however if you are a recent alumni and still have your ucla login ID (like your email address) then you can log into the ucla internet with the VPN server and then espn 360 will work, since the site works if you use the on-campus internet.

the VPN server makes your internet act like the campus internet (although nowhere as fast) but gives you access to stuff like the library databases, educational websites that ucla has subscriptions for….and ESPN 360.

however shouldnt really matter this week as im pertty sure our game isnt being broadcast on 360, its on versus only.

DirecTV Sports package

This package gives you the Fox Sports channels, and Versus. &10 per month if you have DirecTV. We finally dumped Comcast except for internet this spring. Can’t wait for FIOS to get to my neighborhood, so I can drop Comcast completely.
