We are all a lil dissapointed with the way we played against BYU..
Now I knew that BYU was indeed a much more talented and bigger team than Tennessee. I didn't think, as much of you have, that the game would be such a blow out but Im not worried for 3 main reasons.
1- To play away in a stadium filled with maybe 100 bruin fans at the most ( versus didn't show any during the game) is a very difficult thing. These players felt the 12th man there and it showed.
2- BYU's team is filled with players over 20 years of age. Most of them take missions and take off 2-3 years. This obviously leads me to think that they are closer to NFL players than any other team we will face. Plus their OL was averaging 6'6-320lbs, i mean those men are HUGE!!!
3- Lastly Our team is not the most experienced. Don't get me wrong, I love these players and I know that they are all talented, but experience wins games more often than not.
It's only the second game of the year. Im glad we felt what it feels like to be embarassed now instead of later or worst ...december 6th...but now we have felt the most high and the deepest low. We have had our reality check, now lets go out there and play with all we got.
Plus, WE CAN STILL GO TO THE ROSEBOWL BOWL GAME BABY!!!
I'll see you on the 20th against Arizona
GO BRUINS!!!

I'll agree with you
in that, such an embarrassment can only inspire our guys to work harder, play harder, and not take anyone lightly. The manner in which BYU put hats on the ball, repeatedly picking up turnovers should serve as a lesson about protecting the ball that could not have been taught better in any drill on any practice field. I know the mettle of our boys and I think its safe to say they will come out fired up with new found humility against all future opponents. My hope is they ride the lessons of this awful day to a victory against Fresno State. (I don’t care about UofA. We have to beat FSU West)

A game does not a season make
BYU is strong, ferocious and out competed us in every category of the game. We lost spectacularly not because we lacked coaching, game strategies a la Karl Dorell. Our team simply could not cope this time, period. Never mind the huge losing margin. Now that the milk bottle’s crushed, its contents splashed, let’s clean up and ook to the next game.

I agree that it is not a matter of coaching
That’s why I am not so discourage despite how thoroughly the Bruins were dominated Saturday. Unlike under Dorrell, the Bruins did seem prepared to play (although maybe a little flat in the beginning which could have been more attributed to nerves) but were simply overmatched physically by an older, experienced and more talented team.

Polyanna. After watching our Bruins get demolished, and then watch the Troylets take OSU apart, I am afraid that we are in for a long season with a really bad ending.
