Videos from the Rose Bowl's Field of Dreams
Bumped. GO BRUINS. - N
We were all excited about UCLA Football's opening game - ESPN on Labor Day, Rick Neuheisal and Norm Chow's Bruin coaching debut, playing an SEC team at the Rose Bowl in front of a national audience. What more could we ask for?
Well, we asked for more and we most certainly got it.
Let's face it, we were hoping for the best but definitely prepared for the worst. When I saw those 4 interceptions in the first half, to say that I felt concern would put it mildly. But we were only down 7 after throwing 4 picks? I kept thinking "all we have to do is keep it close, come on guys...come on" Then the 2nd half started and the game changed. This team was gelling even in the wake of losing 3 more starters to injury. Watching Kraft in the 2nd half was inspiring. He was poised, calm and made sharp passes and the defense continued to play tough, hard-nose football on every down.
Being on the sideline I could really get a feel for the mood on the bench and all I saw were full "passion buckets" and "relentless optimism". There were so many former players there rooting their former teammates and friends on, adding to the magic on the field. Last night, the Rose Bowl was a field of dreams for all UCLA players and fans. WE WON! I need to keep pinching myself and saying that out loud. WE WON!!!
Oh and last Monday night I was reminded that being a videographer is very difficult for a true fan like me, so pardon the crazy camera work.... :)
Videos after the jump ...

Kraft connects with Ryan Moya for an 8 yard reception at the 3 yard line! 35 seconds remaining - UCLA down 4...
Kraft throws a 3 yard TD to Ryan Moya to put the Bruins up by 3 with 27 seconds remaining in the 4th.
The sidelines go WILD after Kraft hits Moya for TD that put the Bruins up 3 with 27 seconds left in the 4th.Check out all the former players going crazy - Shannon Tevaga, Justin London, Justin Hickman, Brandon Breazell, Junior Taylor, Rodney Van, Eric "McPick" McNeal among others.
Lincoln goes wide left!!! Time to rush the field!!!
The crowd ROARS and does a Bruin spell out into the night at the Rose Bowl. Rick then takes the mic and thanks the fans and pumps everyone up even more (if that was possible) Unfortunately, since I was filming from the field you can't hear him too well, but you get the idea. :)
GO BRUINS!!!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I was hoping you would share your experience
Sounds like you had the time of your life. You are the envy of all your Bruin brothers and sisters. Plus, now you can take full credit for the victory. Let me be the first to tell you “Good Job!”

Yes...
I have to take some credit for the win – I wore a shirt that I have only worn to the Cal vs UCLA game at Pauley (Josh Shipp miracle shot), the Pac 10 Championship game against Stanford and when we beat Xavier to get to the FInal Four. LOL! Clearly it’s a lucky shirt! :)

Protect that shirt!
Place it in a vacuum-sealed, temperature controlled case with bulletproof glass. Put up an electrical fence with infrared sensors around said case and post armed guards on watch around the clock. The next time you should even consider touching that shirt again should be Dec 6, 2008, the date the football monopoly in LA officially ends.

Great job!
They wouldn’t let me bring my video camera into the stadium. Of course I was about as far from the sidelines as anyone could be!
Thanks for sharing your view!

Thanks Everyone!
Mine is a camera that takes videos too and there was nothing saying I couldn’t, so I figured it was ok. So glad I could share the memories with you all. What a GAME!!!

Absolutely enthralling
Taking a 6th year REALLY sounds appealing to me right now. Perhaps picking up a 3rd minor would be worth it? What am I saying, of course it would be worth it. Anyone have room on their couch for a quarter or two?

Surprised no one has asked
So, how is it that you were on the sidelines? Are you a former player?
by ranelar on Sep 3, 2008 12:43 PM PDT 0 recs
Not quite built for that...
I’m a girl, so no! :) hehee! It has been discussed on other threads, so that is probably why no one has asked here. They auction of a couple games a year at the True Blue Celebration, so my family bid on it and got the opportunity for the TN game. Someone else will be doing that same thing against $c this year too!
GO BRUINS!!!

Awesome clips
Thank you for sharing. As you say, “being a videographer is very difficult for a true fan like me.” Videographers who can keep the camera trained on intense action when the natural tendency is to watch with one’s eyes must have ice water in their veins. Was that you screaming when Lincoln missed the FG and it was time to rush the field?
Well done. Thanks, 11.

Yes, I'm sure that was me...
but I don’t even remember screaming like that!? I was so shocked he missed it and at that moment I was realizing we had actually won the game! Realizing that I had just spent the last 4 hours on the sidelines of one of the best games I have ever been to and it culminated in a victory for the Bruins! Elated would be a gross understatement! :)

Hands Down
Best football game I’ve ever attended… complete with the walk from Old Town up to the RB. Everyone in my clan has been waited for “that” victory for a long, long, LONGGG time.
Almost everyone in the south-end could feel the coaching. You could just SEE we had more going for us in leadership that Fulmer’s group.
My ticket is already laminated.

what a difference...
Last year that game is lost. Absolutely no way the previous staff pulls that victory out. Having a coaching staff that can actually make adjustments at half time is liberating after the previous 5 years…Great game! The alumni section was rocking!
All hail the Mighty Bruins, conquerers of troy!

Bruin fans
What a game!!! Makes you proud to be a Bruin. Let’s support Coach Neuheisel and the Bruin team with unconditional faith and relentless optimism. It made me sad to see so many fans leaving the stadium with 2 minutes to play. What a finish they missed! I’ll bet they stay in their seats next time. Never give up Bruins. It’s not over ‘til it’s over!
