Petros Papadakis made my day yesterday
I apologize to those in advance who clicked on this fanpost expecting some trash talking. This is not the case.
I am a waiter at BJ's in Westwood. I have worked there for a little over two years. We have celebrities come in every so often and I never seem to be phased. However, yesterday during lunch, I approach a table with four guys at it and I recognize one of them. It was Petros. As I'm going through my routine "hey guys, my name is Jamie, i'll be helping you out, can i get you something to drink to start off" I kind of half smiled when I made eye contact with him. He smiled back. And I don't know what came over me but i said, "i know you." He kind of laughed and said, "oh do you?" I went on serving them like normal. (in case anyone is wondering, he had black coffee and a small veggie pizza) I pointed him out to some of the other servers and most of them didn't know who he was. I told my manager and he got really excited. He went over to the table, introduced himself, told them that he listens to his show every day on his drive home and that he was going to buy his table lunch. They got a kick out of this.
They sat there for a while writing today's radio show. I'm not sure who the other three guys were. I'm pretty sure one was not Matt Money Smith unfortunately. Petros left first and handed me a 20. Then the other three guys left me 40 more dollars before they left. I was actually having a rough shift earlier and this was a great way to end it. Many thanks to "P" and his crew.
I believe in giving credit where credit is due and for all the crap we give him (myself included), he was really a nice guy.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Petros
Good stuff drum.
I think I have already noted this here before … I actually kind of enjoy Petro’s game commentary from time to time. He is goofy, but he is frank in his observations and not one of those who feels like he needs to kiss up to maintain his access to coaching staffs. I really appreciated that during broadcasts of UCLA games in which he was providing color commentary.

Me too
I’ve always found it strange considering his past and his former team, but I do like hearing him from time to time. He’s honest with his views and tells it like it is.
Good to know I’m not the only one.

I think Petros
Is a closet Bruins fan. He makes fun of USC fairly often, and in the UCLA – AZ game ripped Carson Palmer as arrogant .

Not a closet Bruin fan
but he certainly is not a fan of the Trojans. He’s admitted some distaste for the program and says he has personal reason for it. He’s explained a few of them and says there are others that he cannot share. Hmm maybe that makes him a Bruin fan?

Maybe he reads the BN
and is one of the few in the trOJan family to actually think about the words. I’m not alone in thinking that anyone with two or three molecules of integrity coursing through their system would feel some degree of nausea about their alma mater at some point. Could be that Petros is feeling it, and if so I would more than welcome him to the Bruin family. He doesn’t have to bleed Blue and Gold as many of us do here, but to acknowledge that you can’t spell SCandal without sc is certainly a step in the right direction.

That's the least they can do
after getting their meals comped. I hear plenty of stories like yours, but I hear even more about celebs who get comped and tip a big fat $0. You’d think they never waited tables or knew anyone who waited a table in their life.
It’s nice to hear someone from ’SC is a decent guy.

Petros is a former (and sometimes current) waiter....
at his dad’s place in San Pedro and has been most of his life. I would expect nothing less.

In other words
he has a work ethic…which is probably why he is not fond of the U$C program.

The PMS Show
No show makes me LOL more sitting in my car than Petros and Money. On Fridays they will do an Improv request type deal where a caller calls in to request 2 characters they can impersonate and a situation these two characters are in. If anyone can find the recording of Petros as Norm Chow having a conversation with Money as Vick the Brick, it will be well worth your time. If you see him again, ask him to do his Steve Hartman impression (even though Money does him equally well). Petros also scores points by me for describing Charlie Weiss as having a “frontal ass”.
