Reality Bites
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
Less than three weeks ago the electric feeling in the Rose Bowl was almost palpable as the Bruins staged an incredible comeback win. Anything seemed possible. Then . . . 59-0 happened. Those who read BN regularly know that reality for this season lies somewhere between those two games, (unfortunately) more like today's game.
The good:
- 115 yards rushing
- no interceptions
- two punts inside the two-yard line
- defense scores a touchdown and has multiple "3 and outs"
The bad:
- less than 200 total yards of offense
- 3 points scored by the offense
- Six penalties
- Special teams breakdowns - fumbled punt and horrendous punt coverage
The ugly:
- So far this season, the offense has scored the same number of touchdowns (2) as the defense
- Rose Bowl crowd starts leaving with nearly 13 minutes left in the game and the Bruins down 24-10
I anticipate more bandwagoners jumping ship with Fresno State coming into town next weekend. To them I say, you're missing the beginning of the Neu Era. Good times are ahead and true blue Bruin fans will support the team at the top of the peaks and down through the valleys.
Some of CRN's postgame remarks: Coach Neuheisel, the whole coaching staff, and our team need our support more than ever. So, head on down to the Rose Bowl every chance you get! (click on photo below for slideshow)
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Like I've said before ...
… I’m in it for the long haul. This is my team, my family’s team, OUR team. I’m no fairweather Bruin. I’m a season ticket holder who plans on renewing for many years! Patience … patience … our time will come.
From the CBS vid cut you posted, T, it looks like CRN is ‘bout to light some true Bruin fire under his team’s feets! He looks absolutely frustrated and P’Oed. Unlike past coaching staff who have stuttered through press conferences or even hid from the press after losses, CRN will turn that energy into something positive for these kids. He’s just that type of person now. This is just one more of those trials he has to endure, and he and this team will come out winners! I could just feel it! That is why I AM NOT jumping ship.

i totally agree
fans leaving early once the score gets out of hand… thats the one thing that has bugged me since I started going to games. what’s worse was that this wasnt even a blowout at the time when people started leaving. what’s the point of going all the way out to the rose bowl if youre gonna give up. any true fan, as you’ve said, would stay there to support the team when they need it the most. but more than anything, this program deserves to get to the status it should, even if it brings back the bandwagoners.
Go Bruins!

fans leaving early
why leave early? you are at the best site for a game in the country and rooting for the best college there is. we use to go to 3-5 games a year(a work injury and loss of income means i have not gone to a game in 5 years) arrive early to eat and talk, watch the WHOLE game and then talk some more. show some respect and stay till the end. we already have a reputation across the country for being typical L.A. fans. dont reinforce it.

Agreed
I hated seeing people leave early like that. I am a loyal Bruin fan and always will be. I will attend every home game no matter what and not bail out early. Like you said, why? Spending my Saturday at the Rose Bowl with friends and family and having a post game margarita or two in Pasadena is always fun. I look forward to seeing this team and our future teams improve and be patient guys. It’s coming…

What I found truly disturbing
was the large gaps in seating in the northern end zone. Big drop off in attendance.

65,000+
for a game, which followed 0-59 and preceded start of fall quarter, is not bad at all IMHO.

The amount of tockets sold didn't bother me
65,000+ is a good number, but there were a lot of no shows. There was closer to 50,000 people actually in the stands.

Oh really???
It didn’t seem that bad to me and I thought they counted the attendance with tickets scanned but I guess not.

I don't know
It seems like the attendance is much better along the sidelines. The poor attendance in general admission (cheapest tickets) is more just a sign that there aren’t many bandwagon fans right now making a casual decision to go to the game.

Not really
The difference in attendance between the TN game and yesterday was about 10,000. TN had WAY more fans than AZ and it was also our first game under CRN against an SEC team. Big draw, so I don’t think it was a huge drop off. Realistically though, some people just aren’t going to make the trip or effort if we are losing – every team has bandwagoners. When school is back in session, that section should be close to full every game, so that will help. Us loyal fans just have to keep positive and keep YELLING to help the team. They need us now!

Remember
that as has been pointed out before, once the students come back we will start to have that end close to filled every time. Poor results or not, you know that students aren’t going to forego the opportunity to tailgate at the country’s most beautiful “stadium parking lot”…

Another stat:
11 PUNTS FOR 496 YARDS! Its especially ridiculous when compared to our total offense of 196 yards. Good thing we had a punter to cover the distance of FIVE FOOTBALL FIELDS! Otherwise, that game could have gotten out of hand much earlier!
GO BRUINS!

Aaron Perez.....
I brought along one of my colleagues from work to the game on Saturday and she was impressed with how well Aaron Perez punted.
I said, “Well, he gets a lot of practice.” :)
I may work with the Waves, but I'm still a Bruin!

LoL, nice response ;)
But in all honesty, our kicking duo has to be one of the best in the country. Perez is obviously showing off his stuff, Forbath was fantastic last year, of course this year he hasn’t exactly had much time to shine…

Yep, great kicking team
Both those guys pulled our Bruin Butts out of the fire several times last year.
