Anybody tailgating for the next game?

I'm gonna be at the next game and have never tailgated at the rose bowl.  I have been to the rose bowl twice but never got a chance to walk around and meet fellow bruins. would be nice to walk around, meet  joe bruin and the cheerleaders etc.

So if you have any info on pre-game activities and all that good stuff, please let me know,it'll be much appreciated.

 Go Bruins!!! Beat Fresno!!!

Lot H is where you'll want to be

Its the grass lawn in front of Gate A of the Rose Bowl. The Alumni Band, the cheerleaders, and the spirit squad are here. There is also quite a variety of food and drinks that you can purchase. If you’re looking for an easy tailgate to attend, I strongly recommend the OC Bruins/South Bay Bruins tailgate. For $15 it includes all you can eat and drink! Can’t beat that! Check it out at the website: www.ocbruins.com

I used to tailgate in Lot H for every game

but starting last year, they don’t let you park down there anymore without some special permit. do you know if this is still the case? Or, failing that, what this whole permit BS is all about?

Jeo, to answer your question, I am not tailgating. It’s a shame becuase outside of USC there is nobody I’d rather beat. (OK, Oregon is in the mix, but that is another story for another day) I feel this is a must win game for the Bruins. Fresno State is in state competition for recruits, and they talk a lot of smack about how the Pac 10 schools, UCLA and USC in particular would not play them for years. I guess they overlooked the losses we handed them in the 90s.

That's untrue...

I’m not sure what happened to you, but we have NEVER had a parking permit to park in Lot H and have tailgated there for EVERY home game since about 1995. I DO know that it is difficult to get into Lot H because of the traffic patterns that the city of Pasadena sets up, unless you come in off the 210 westbound, exit seco/mountain, and go left. I’ve never had a problem getting on the lawn going this way. From other directions they often divert you straight to the golf course. Also keep in mind that Lot H fills up rather quickly for big games. For this game, as long as you arrive by maybe 8:30, you should be fine. You might be fine even later, but its not worth taking the chance.

There is

no special permit I am aware of. In fact, I don’t recall them ever requiring a permit for lot H. They do require a permit for an adjacent black top lot, but I wouldn’t want to park there anyways. Just a $15 per car fee. Its advisable to get there sometime before 9am if you want to tailgate on the grass. The Rose Bowl has some of the best tailgating facilities in the nation. It should be a good time!

That might be it.

Those days I got turned away, it was later than I would have liked. And, in the past, I would park on the black top, and hike over to the grass, where my friends had already set up their tailgate party.

I’m filing this one away future reference! Thanks for the inside track!

Word is....

that there will be reserved passes for the SC game this year. I don’t park there, but I have heard that there were ads on the cars parked in Lot H advertising reserved Lot H parking for the Southern Cal game from UCLA central ticketing. I would like some backup, but this comes from BRO premium forum.

Gate A. Area...

Yes, that’s a great area to hang out in. The KLAC guys do their pre-game show there as well. There’s a lot of great stuff going on around there.

I may work with the Waves, but I'm still a Bruin!

Lot H

To summarize – no special permit req’d for lot H, it’s generally full 3 hours before kickoff, and flyers were passed out last Saturday indicating they will offer lot H pre-sale parking to season ticket holders for the suc game this year.

WRT the SB Bruins/OC Bruins tailgate: great organized party, excellent location, and $15/person for all the tasty food and drink is a phenomenal deal. However, the tailgate chair sent out an email this morning that because of its size/popularity there have been some (undisclosed) complaints resulting in no formal tailgate for this game (FSU) only. Whatever the issue is, he believes it will be worked out by the next (WSU) game, but this weekend they will have the space but no food or drink available, you’d need to bring your own. Their location is right across from the alumni band, and the cheerleaders and Joe and Josephine Bruin are also on hand. Plus it’s a short walk to the path the players take as they head in before the game.

Lot A, lot 1, and all the parking on the golf course north of the Rose Bowl is also great tailgating, just without all the formal corporate tents and such – but a little more room for frisbee/throwing the football around, that kind of stuff.

I’m disappointed they stopped allowing parking at Brookside Park, south of Lot H – to me that was the best combo of a nice space and relatively easy access in/out. C’est la vie.
