OSU my 2nd favorite team
Because they were sUc's opponents today. OSU was unstoppable in the first half, rolling up a 21-0 lead against the thugs of south central, the last (lucky) touchdown scored with 4 seconds left in the half. You have to give it to Riley to go for the touchdown instead of a field goal. If they didn't get the touchdown, it would have been difficult to get the field goal unit on in time, as they didn't have any timeouts left. That's playing to win.
OSU looked shaky in the 2nd half as the toejams scored two unanswered TD's in the 3rd quarter, but still trailed 21-14. The 4th quarter was all about field position until sanchez, backed up deep in sc territory, threw an interception, which OSU returned to the 2-yard line, with 2:43 left to go in the game. OSU took it in for the insurance score, leading 27-14 (the extra point was missed).
sc got a big kickoff return and scored with 1:19 left on the clock, but the ensuing onsides kick was covered by OSU, and that was the game.
Let's hope our Bruins take heart and turn up the intensity for this weekend's game. We're the underdog, we ain't got nuttin to lose. Same goes for all of us that can get to the game. Let's show our Bruins our support with intensity!

Win Forever Or Until 9-25-08
But is the by-product of those character-building steps one takes throughout their entire life. Coach Wooden has taught us that.
Sanchez is a perfect example of all the wrong reasons to compete. Did anyone catch this infantile little twerp after the game, throwing tape and whatnot? That is the “Win Forever” philosophy to a tee. No one will win forever. No one, but some, who espouse virtue over simple victory will come close.

Slightly off topic about Sanchez
I did catch the little juvenile acting like a juvenile walking off the field. Telemachus, great clips, by the way.
But did anyone else find it strange how many times the camera was on this guy throughout the game, whether or not he was on the field? It was like the cameraman was in love with him or something (not that there is anything wrong with that). It’s nice that he shows so much emotion—but then again, sometimes too much emotion will cause you to overthrow your own players.
What a way to kick off a weekend. The LA Slimes can officially remove Sanchez from its Heisman watch now, and hopefully, will stop drooling over all things SUC for at least a few days. The Best Team in the History of the Universe didn’t look so great last night. Cheat on.

I didn't mind Sanchez throwing tape / wristband
It should hurt to lose, and a little emotion like that is not a bad thing.

I'll buy that, however,
pick up your own trash…don’t throw it and then ignore it. It makes him look like a cocky and infantile spoiled brat.

It Looked and Felt Like
more of a complete spoiled-brat tantrum than a display of disappointment in himself, though. I think that’s why it was even notable in the first place.

I'll chalk it up to

Don't mean to blow my own horn
but I do. Check out this article where Arash Markazi of FanNation draws a similar conclusion. He goes on about how $C should change their motto and says:
Carroll’s motto seems more appropriate for Wooden’s squads which won 10 national championships in 12 years and seven straight, including a 47-game winning streak.
However, I doubt The Coach would ever allow such a motto to grace anything he was associated with because it is not about winning, it is about competitive greatness. Oh and by the way Arash, if you are listening, that’s an 88 game winning streak.

Unfortunately I missed the Sanchez show
I think the announcers were a little disappointed with the loss by the The Best Team in the History of the Universe with the OMG best defense ever! And it’s nice to have Barnes to JJ back (not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
by Fox 71 on Sep 26, 2008 5:25 AM PDT 0 recs
Thank you, Fox
Good point, too, about the best defense ever. Also, what about McNight’s amazing 29 yard performance and two fumbles (only one of which he recovered)? Not one word about any of that in today’s Trojan Times.

He does remind me of Reggie Bush after all
It’s never talked about by the MSM of course, but Bush has had a silent case of fumblitis for years. He dropped two in their game against us in 2004 which the SPTRs were kind enough to pick up, dust off, and return to them. There is the infamous lateral to nowhere in the Rose Bowl against Texas. Big games the both of them. Last weekend he put one on the carpet against Denver Broncos during a Saints rally that came up one point short.

In fairness
there are times when McNight does remind me of Bush—they both have very good awareness on the field and they both are explosive. And they both can be careless with the ball. But when he, or Sanchez, or Mauathuga have a crappy game, I expect the media to call them on it. I guess I won’t hold my breath.

SPTR's Bad Calls to the Benefit of sc
Twice, in the critical 4th quarter, the SPTR’s made erroneous clock calls that favored sc and could have had an impact on the game.
The most egregious was a totally inexplicable clock stoppage, signaled by the ref’s; after a delay during which sc was able to get set to run another offensive play, they restarted the clock. The commentators questioned the stoppage and noted that sc had gained at least 10 seconds from the act. From where I sat, it was much more.
In a game that could have been decided by the time left on the clock and the number of time outs possessed by sc, this was a significant screw up. (They also appeared to “give back” a time out called by cheety when they discovered the thug was injured. pc was calling time out, they acknowledged and called it, the announcers questioned the use of the TO, and then it was given back and an official time out used to get the thug off the field. Again, the announcers questioned the call.)
Since it didn’t change the game, no one will say anything or look into it. Playing with SPTR’s calling the game is like playing on a field full of mines. You never know when one will go off and injure your team.
This level of incompetence is not acceptable.

Did Anyone Else Think
that the Trojies 2nd TD was also questionable?

Yeah. My brother.
I didn’t see the game live. So, I asked him to send me text message updates. although he called it a “bad call gives SC their 3rd touchdown.” i checked the internet game tracker immediately and SC still only had 14 points on the board. he had to have been talking about the second touchdown.

Yep. Thought So.
Thanks…I don’t know that much about the nuances of football, but I do try to be familiar with the basics, and that was not really a TD. It was a gift to the Trojies.

Imagine my shock this morning
Mr. BB and I were more concerned about “The Office” premiere last night. I turned on the TV as I normally do, and had to pause the DVR for several seconds just to be sure I saw the correct score. The funny thing is that Mr. BB was mentioning yesterday how South Central has played bad in Corvallis recently.
My faith has been restored. Again, much love to Oregon State and their fans this morning.

Dear Coach Carroll:
If the last few years have proven nothing else, they have certainly proven that all the money and cheating in the world still cannot buy you the best college football team in the nation.
