Petey tries to erase Oregon State loss from the record books
Did any of you watch the post game interview on ABC? John Saunders asked Petey if USC had a chance to face either Oklahoma or Florida who would win?
Petey said
Well, in all due respect, those are two great programs, I don't think anyone can beat the Trojans this year.
This guy is already forgetting this?
He cannot be this dumb. Can he?
Too bad Mushbrain, Herbstreit, and the whole ABC crew spent the entire game on their kneedpads.
No one called out the douchebag for being such a a pompous, conceited, arrogant, asshole.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I Heard It and Thought the Same Thing, Too
Wouldn’t the proper response have been, “Except Oregon State …”
All game long they fawned over sc and pc.
They insulted us, too, when they said something like “sc only loses the little games, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon State”.
Tools.

TJ Simers didn't let coach carroll get away with it
From here today:
“I don’t think anybody can beat us right now,” said Carroll, and we will never know because they weren’t ready to play at Oregon State.
And for good measure, a callback to earlier in the week:
CARROLL SAID a phone call came in at halftime to the officials who warned the Trojans that if they continued to celebrate on the sidelines they would be penalized.
Carroll, calling it fun, said he wanted to get such a penalty to show everyone just how much fun the Trojans were having, “but I forgot.”
“I’d just like to know where that phone call came from,” Carroll said.
Another day or two, and Ken Norton will probably let it slip that the call came from Rick Neuheisel.
It didn’t, did it?
Hahahaha! Nice, T.J.

Probably for the best
I switched over to the USA network’s Monk marathon at halftime. Not much point watching the Rose Bowl after that point.
And really, is anyone surprised that the Humanitarian/physical genius would spew such a line?

Fox, I think you and my old man need to meet some day. The two of you are about the same age, were both in the Army, and spend your time watching the Twilight Zone marathons.
And for the record, Mr. BB and I were watching the Twilight Zone as well. No need for me to get all huffy over justsc.

They can award themselves titles that don't exist can't they?
If they can conjure wins and titles out of thin air, surely they can banish a measly little loss to Oregon State the same way.

Arrogant Peety
During his press conference, he went as far as to say that he wanted to get a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct after his sideline was warned after excessive sideline celebrations on the field. Cheaty said that the only reason they didn’t get one was because he forgot to tell his team to get back on the field to celebrate after they got warned. In his moment of arrogance he claimed that he was doing that because he wanted to get penalized for “having too much fun.” The only thing that was good about that game was when the referee indicated that “southern cal” called a timeout; the u$c “fan” responded in anger at the ref for calling them southern cal. It was great to hear that from the ref.

When he said that at the ceremony I, and other fans around me did say “exceprt for the beavers.” He did later say in the press conference that the way USC has played their best football at the end of the season, and that right now he didn’t think anyone could beat us.

I have now heard what he said
He knew exactly what he was saying. As SecondChoice said above it was vintage Petey: pompous, arrogant or just plain dumb. Your effort to get technical saying he just meant “this year” as in just 2009 is just pathetic attempt to brush over your annual choke job against a Pac-10 team.

Honestly.
Sure. Honestly. No kidding. As long as you use that sort of an intro, then we all know that this time it’s the absolute truth coming out. Every justsc person on the planet acknowledges Oregon State’s win, and Stanford’s and ours. That’s just the nature of the typical justsc fan. No arrogance at all. No attitude of entitlement at all.
One question, Mr. Honestly. Why on earth would you want to post at a Bruin site? What do you gain? (OK, that’s two questions, although I doubt that a typical trOJie would have been able to do the math.) I have several theories, but I would like to hear your rationale.

I was being civil
The trOJie was coming here defending Cheatie Petie. I’m happy to engage in that debate, but that wasn’t the offer. The issue was a defense of Cheatie Petie’s arrogance, and that won’t wash.
In any event, I think it would be great to discuss the list of arrests, bu$hgate, “White Nation” with any justsc guy. That stuff they ignore, because they choose not to see it. That’s the kind of arrogance which breeds more trOJies, more Cheatie Petie’s etc. Those subjects will NEVER be debated by any justsc person. That was not my invitation to the Cheatie Petie defender, of course, but I sort of wish it had been. My question was simpler – why would a guy like that come here to discuss an issue which cannot be defended? I still want to know.

Vindication of one's fundamental beliefs is always nice.
Many of us here believe that a typical trOJan is classless, arrogant and borderline moronic. (Find a friendly Bruin to translate those words for you.) Frak, you have proven that to be the case in spades. You truly wallow in so much filth that you don’t take notice of it any more. You can call it “amusement,” but I think you visit here to see how grown-ups think and talk, and fundamentally to hang out with your betters.
But come on over any time. It is amusing for all of us.

Just HILARIOUS.
That’s all, really…you’re just hilarious. (You ARE joking, right?) We could explore this further…it was Oregon State in 2008, (yes, it even rhymes!), it was Stanford and Oregon State in 2007, (technically the year your poor kicker fell off a cliff with a .23 blood alcohol content), it was Oregon State and UCLA in 2006, Texas in 2005, Cal in 2003, Kansas State and WSU in 2002, K-State, Oregon, Stanford, UW and Notre Dame in 2001. That, frak, is Pete Carroll’s career at USC, in a nutshell.
Hilarious. Just stop…my sides hurt.

Anybody catch this one?
Herbstreit was fawning over South Central and made a comment along that lines that “Boy, after a game like this, You have to wonder who would in if they were faced with the winner of the National Championship game.” Refering, of course to the idea of the Plus One system.
I’m sitting there thinking, why? Did they play Texas? Alabama? Texas Tech? Any of these schools would have as much right to play for a national championship. How quickly they forget just how poor a resume they really have. They have a great defense, OK, I get it. But, who have they played? There is a reason they never got higher than 5th in the rankings after their loss to Oregon State.

Presumptuous to Assume sc Would Be In a Plus 1
I admit, I’m a Texas Tech fan and upset that the RR’s are not mentioned in all of this speculation over a plus1 scenario — but I agree with you, if you were to use a strength of schedule argument to assess wins and losses, the team would come from the teams you listed. I think the fight would be between Texas and Tech and probably for the right to play Oklahoma, again (my prediction).

My Favorite Statement for Speculators
“If your aunt had balls she’d be your uncle.”
I guess it translates to: If pc had balls he’d be ……?
or if he had balls he’d stop whining — accept that his team accomplished a lot but was not qualified to play in the big bowl.

Found this on a private Navy forum I subscribe to....
Please let me know if anyone knows where it’s from so I can properly cite!
BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II: USA Ranked 4th
After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS
computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS
declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.
"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with
the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into
conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark,
Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and
Russia; however considering their entire body of work—including an
incredibly tough Strength of Schedule—our computers deemed them worthy
of the #1 ranking."
Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner
stated "The US only had two major victories—Japan and Germany. The
computer models, unlike humans, aren’t influenced by head-to-head
contests—they consider each contest to be only a single,
equally-weighted event."
German Chancellor Adolph Hitter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we
defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been
criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn ‘style points’ to
enhance Germany’s rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was
in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly
challenging and demanded the application of additional forces."
The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented "
France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1
ranking they only fell to #2."
Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Korea, Manchuria, Borneo,
Taiwan, Viet-nam, and the Philippines.

Network bluster
Don’t forget the Rose Bowl was the only BCS game ABC/ESPN had this year. So of course they’re going to downplay the importance of the upcoming games while hyping theirs. Once this game is over, no one cares and it is on to the next. Besides, after tonight, Utah has the best claim outside of the NC game to be #1. You won’t hear the wonks over at Fox (the network) even mention $c.

Indeed, the Trojan football team is not impressive. Are they talented football players? Yes. Are they impressive? Decidedly, no. IMHO, impressive is the team whose players’ hearts, spirit, sportsmanship and humility exceed their talent, no matter how great.

Not what I meant
All I’m saying is, U$C gets to play the Rose Bowl in its hometown, meaning that the stadium is usually 2/3 full of Trojies when they play that game (I shouldn’t call it a “home” game). Essentially, they get the same advantage LSU would have playing at the Superdome, or Texas playing in the Cowboys stadium. I’d love to see how they would do in a more neutral setting. Never will I accept that they claim our home field as theirs.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
