Bilas Names DC Midseason All-American
*This is an ESPN Insider article so I can't link to it
Bilas' AA team also included Stephen Curry, James Harden (despite last night lol), Blake Griffen, and Luke Harangody. Yes, you read that right. Tyler "get every call" Hansbrough did NOT make the list.
Honestly not sure if the bigger surprise here is that Bilas/ESPN actually gave a Bruin his due, or that they (rightfully) left off the "face" of college basketball. Although arguable, Curry has passed Hansbrough as the most known player in the country - and rightfully so.
Bilas says straight up that DC is "the best, most efficient PG in the nation," and that he "plays at the highest level on both ends of the court." Both statements that we've echoed here many times this year. DC's playing the best ball of his career right now and it's awesome that he's getting recognized for it - especially because he doesn't have the gaudy point/assist numbers that others may have. His contributions go beyond the box score and people are starting to realize that.
I really am not a fan of Bilas but I like what he's done with this team. It's all about production, not about national publicity and face time. Honestly I can't argue with any of the selections. Well earned praise for DC.
(Hansbrough did make the 2nd team)

DC
I always liked Bilas as he is probably the fairest of commentators on ESPN. He has long loved DC and has been saying he is the best pg in America for 2 years now. This type of acknowledgment is great though because Bilas specifically said he was doing it based on production and winning and we know no one produces or is a winner like DC.
Hilariously, Chad Ford (the ESPN draft “expert” who isn’t any better at picking them than my neighbor) has DC as the 10th best pg in this draft. Although I think Ford is terribly wrong, I would love to see which smart GM takes a “chance” (a la LRMAM) on DC.
Ford is an idiot
I left out the completely discrediting reason that Ford gave for putting DC down so far.
But his smallish stature and questionable floor leadership have him stuck on the first-round bubble.
What an idiot. DC is by far the best floor leader in college. It would help if Ford actually watched a game of the players he is evaluating.
