Tyler Lamb targeted by racist taunts
C/O 2010 verbal commit Tyler Lamb, along with a Mater Dei teammate, were subjected to racist heckling and taunts throughout their game @ Servite HS last Friday. Behavior by the Servite students was stated to include "monkey noises" and questions regarding the parentage of Lamb and teammate Gary Franklin throughout the game.
I am not one to crack down on booing/heckling, even at the HS level, but this is just wrong. Not sure what was in these student's minds, but clearly their parents still have work to do (as well as to watch less European soccer).

Not at all surprised...
I used to coach at Westminster High School when they were in the same league as Servite (for that period between the “Angelus League” days and the “Serra” / “Trinity” days, when public and private mixed). Anywhere you go, you expect to be razzed, and some of it will be over-the-top stuff.
But I assure you, the parents at Servite are the ones needing the work first. Most disrespectful fans — students and parents — of any school I’ve coached against, and I’ve done 12 years of baseball and 12 of football. They really soured me on private schools, although some like Notre Dame or Crespi can be a pretty classy bunch.
Servite Alum
I was a student at Servite, class of 02. And let me just say. I am not at all surprised. I’m a minority and I was subjected to racism throughout my high school years. I would have slurs spewed at me, water bottles thrown at me…anything you can imagine. Racism still exists folks, let me tell you. Needless to say, I have very little in terms of fond memories from Servite High School.
As I understand it, Tyler Lamb is a Mater Dei student (Servite’s “rival” high school") and I know that Servite students can be even more disgraceful in a rivalry setting. It’s sad to find out that not much has changed, and it makes me appreciate even more that I was able to get out and become a Bruin. Servite should be ashamed of itself.
I think it's in Anaheim

Also an alum
And was at the school around the same time. While I am not a minority and Servite is not the most ethnically diverse school, I can’t say that I ever experienced or observed it from afar and I would hardly say that racism is rampant throughout the campus like a lot people have been making it out to be. I feel for you and anyone that has to experience that type of ignorance and wish it didn’t cause you to have the feelings you do about the school but based on what you have written I feel as though we didn’t even go to the same place.
Get over it!
As a black student who attended servite high school until I graduated there are several things I would like to clarify about a few remarks made by people on this blog especially Crispybruin. The reason why you were the target of being made fun of was not because of the color of your skin but probably because you are just a loser, I was a black athlete with good but not great grades that seemed to get along with everyone at school, so you must be suiffering from some sort of anti-social problem where you cannot make friends and because of this are made fun of fo being so awkward. In fact in my experiences the white students at Servite are more censored about even throwing racial jokes around when minority students are around, so to you crispybruin I say yu are a loser and are bitter that you do not have the high school friends that are there for you years after Servite like the rest of us graduates that have the support you wish you had, get over it!!!!
Now onto turs12 comment, how can you say that Servite is not the most ethnically diverse school??? If you are referring to the black population then yes, you are right there were only 5 of us in my class; however check this out, Servite is almost evenly divided between whites, asians, and latinos now as far as percentage…. if you want to make an argument then yes there is little diversity, it is a school for the priveleged or those that get financial aid to attend… However, you are correct in saying that racism isn’t rampant on campus. In my 4 years at Servite there was only one real racial incident and that was a group of losers calling several students of middle eastern decent racial names on 9/11…. Now not only did the school deal with them but they became the targets of many white, black, asian, and latino students for making those statements to people that in no way could have a connection to the events of 9/11.
Finally, I just want to say that Mater Dei students are little wimps about things said in such an intense rivalry… When I played sports against mater dei I was called an Uncle Tom or Boy by MD students, but you never heard me make a big deal about it… and if we are on the subject of racism what about prejudice??? yes the Servite Pit Crew may cross the line with some of their chants but what is it really? One of the biggest and most spirited student groups in all of so cal hs sports? I think so, and its at one of the smallest schools in the county so I would try and find a way tp shut it down as well… and what about Mater Dei’s 2, 4, 6, 9 who’s the homo on the line chant? What if one of those basketball players on the free throw line is in fact gay is that not a prejudice action b Mater Dei? and that chant is not only encouraged but I have seen parents participate in it during a basketball game! so coach palafox, it may wierd for you to understand what having strong school support at your athletic events but the trinity/sierra league is in fact on its own level of competition not just the athletes but their supporters as well!!!!
Get over it!
