Who's this guy??
If you've ever been to Pauley Pavilion, on every opponent free throw attempt there would be this guy behind the basket, wearing blue UCLA jacket and blue afro wig, and he'll be hollering like crazy to distract the guy shooting. I asked Dohn about this in the in-game chat during today's game and people there told me that he already wrote a piece on him, and indeed it was already asked tons of times.
So my question is...who is he? Is he part of UCLA athletics? Or is he just a longtime season ticket holder?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Did you read the piece? You should know all about him. He has some kind of disease, I forget what it’s called or what the specific problems are (I think it prevents him from speaking well). He’s just a big fan. He also is the time/score keeper for a high school somewhere. We should have more people in blue hair jumping up and down win the game.
While this article doesn't answer your questions...
the following link from The Daily Bruin (2005) tells you a little about him.
I totally agree with ranelar as far as having more fans like him. GO BRUINS!!
Thanks for the link to the article
He sounds like a really great guy. Great story. Although he never attended a class at UCLA like so many of us, he’s just as much a Bruin and part of our Bruin family. I’ve always wondered who the crazy guy under the basket was and now I know.
I hope we’ll see him every home game for many years to come. And he’s right: every fan should cheer like he does. Again, he may not be a Bruin by diploma, but he’s a Bruin by heart.
Bet he’s at home right now looking over the FT stats from today’s loss and wondering what he can do the next game to distract the opposing team.
Thanks for the article
I agree. Pauley is WAY too quiet. His screaming alone can be heard on top of the distracting noise (mostly from the Den).
I always thought he was employed by UCLA
Guess not. ;)
I actually really think he makes a difference on opposing free throws. Because of the fact that the rest of Pauley doesn’t make tons and tons of noise on free throw attempts, his screaming and dancing act is nearly all the free throw shooter sees and hears. Good for him; he makes Pauley a much more… menacing place to play, at least during free throws.

I saw him for the first time
when we down to Pauley this December. I only wish all the other folks behind the baskets showed his passion and engagement during the game.
I sometimes say hello to him at football games
He sits in section 3, immediately to the left of the tunnel (I think he’s now in the second row). For those that utilize that tunnel, he’s a really nice guy. On every UCLA first down, he stands up and gives the first down hand signal. He never forgets, either. I’d bet he hasn’t forgotten to do this in years.
