Institutional Arrogance...
Via an article on Yahoo Sports:
“With all due respect, those are two great programs,” Carroll said. “But I don’t think anybody can beat the Trojans this year.”
Actually, somebody already did beat the Trojans. Oregon State, on Sept. 25, a 27-21 shocker that has left Carroll declaring something he couldn’t prove. And then there was USC running back C.J. Gable, taking it one step further.
“We know we would crush Florida and Oklahoma,” he said. “We know that.”
Whoa!
TALK ABOUT ARROGANCE... I'm sure they "knew" they would crush Oregon State...
I'm prepared to respect the team's accomplishments, but then the players have to come out and say stupid stuff like that. But I guess when you have such fine examples set by the leadership, there's not a lot to expect. The funny thing is just earlier I read a story about Gable sulking about not getting enough playing time...
Horrible sportsmanship.

Gable should probably focus on holding onto the ball rather than running his mouth. but him and Cheaty Petey are probably right about OU. they’re overrated. but Florida would kill SUC. they’re well coached and well disciplined in all three phases of the game. not to mention they can match talent and speed.

I wouldn't let this bother you to much.
Leinart still thought they were the better team after they lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl. It just goes to show how arrogance can blind you to the facts. Like the Scoreboard!

This is nothing new.
Remember Ricky Bell. After EVERY trOJie loss, the fishwrap headling said “‘We beat ourselves’ – Bell” No one ever actually beats justsc. They beat themselves. And as I recall, it was not too long ago that they beat themselves eight years in a row. Those days are coming back, and the trOJies know it.
As someone once said, the monopoly is over.

I'd love to see a plus one...
…if only to see Tebow and the Gators bend the trOJans over and give it to them from behind.
But since that won’t happen, if any of the current trOJans want to know how it feels to be taken from behind, they should call up their boy (who Petey let run around the practice field) Orenthal James. I’m sure ol’ Orenthal will be able to describe to the current trOJan scum what that feels like…
…you know, since that’ll describe his daily routine for, what, the next 15-30 years. :)
