Russell Westbrook is getting the recognition he deserves. Westbrook earned Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors for December, the league announced today, a credit to the steady progress he’s made. Westbrook averaged 15.5 points, 5.1 assists and 9.9 rebounds in 15 games last month. He scored a career-high 31 points against the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 29, matched a career-high of 11 assists against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 21.
