UCLA Football Awards Banquet
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
I just got home from the 2008 Football Awards Banquet at the Beverly Hilton. Attendees included the team along with their family members, coaches and fans. All were there to pay tribute to the Senior class and honor individual achievments as well. CRN was the main speaker, and of course he did a great job. I thought BN would enjoy seeing the award list and who the recipients were.
The Jack R. Robinson Memorial Award for Highest Scholarship by a Senior - Aaron Perez
The N.N. Sugarman Memorial Award for Best Leadership - Offense Kevin Craft and Defense Reggie Carter
The Captain Don Brown Memorial Award for Most Improved Player - Offense Mike Harris and Defense Michael Norris
The John Boncheff Jr. Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year - Offense Taylor Embree and Defense was shared by Akeem Ayers and Rahim Moore
The Ed Kezerian "Coach K" Award for Academic and Athletic Balance - Jeff Baca
The Tommy Prothro Award for Outstanding Special Teams Player - Shared by Kai Forbath, Aaron Perez and Glenn Love
The Kenneth S. Washington Award for Outstanding Senior of the Year - Brigham Harwell
The Paul I. Wellman Memorial Award for All-Around Excellence - Offense Ryan Moya and Defense Alterraun Verner
The George W. Dickerson Award for Outstanding Offensive Player vs. u$c - Kahlil Bell
The Donn Moomaw Award for Outstanding Defensive Player vs. u$c - Brian Price
The Jerry Long "Heart" Award - Offense Marcus Everett and Defense Kory Bozworth
The Henry R. "Red" Sanders Award for Most Valuable Player (Voted on by the Players) Offense Terrance Austin and Defense Brigham Harwell
I had a chance to speak to many of the players including Ryan Moya, Terrance Austin, Brian Price, Pat and Joe Cowan, Kevin Craft, Nick Ekbatani, Kahlil Bell and Reggie Carter and there is a common thread between them all. They are polite, friendly, bright and just a pleasure to be around. I find this is common among all the Bruins I meet and it always impresses me. That's what being a Bruin is all about.

Looking forward to 2009 and beyond. GO BRUINS!!!

Great pictures - Thanks!!
I was also at the banquet and I completely agree with your comments about our Bruins! It was a very upbeat evening, focusing on the positives of the past and the bright future ahead of us. Look for Brian Price to be a strong leader – he has the heart and the motivation!! We have an incredible group of guys. And I just loved it when Kahlil Bell lead an enthusiastic 8 clap at the end of the evening.
