Pac-10 Discipline (or lack thereof) for groin shot
Remember Leonard Washington's groin shot in the Oklahoma game? For curiosity, I went back and looked at $C's box score for the following game. Washington started and played 27 minutes.
So what?
Yesterday, Conference USA gave a 1 game suspension to the Houston player who stepped on Budinger, for violating the league's sportsmanship policy.
This is just another example (alongside the quality of our SPTR's, our bowl matchups, our TV packages) of how not to run a league. Hopefully new blood will look to hold the $C thugs (and from any other team) accountable for their actions.
Heaven knows we can't count on Timmeh or Petey to do the right thing. When the league won't step up either, we wind up with the ethical cesspool across town.
Hats off to C-USA for showing how a real league works in situations like this.

Don't forget throwing a ball at Aboya's face
last year didn’t even result in a foul, never mind a suspension.
Hansen can’t leave soon enough…

Houston
The article in the Houston Chronicle made it seem that the 1 game suspension was mandatory and imposed whenever a “flagrant” foul was called.
See my post, elsewhere: I do not thing a one game suspension was sufficient and I also believe that sanctions should have been imposed on the players that “celebrated” the foul.
Washington’s shot to the groin was just as bad if not worse because he did it in a way where he was trying to hide it.
Does either the Pac 10 or the NCAA have a rule that a flagrant foul carries a mandatory 1 game penalty? Or, is it just Conf USA?

Don't know
But I would point out again that I followed Floyd’s comments closely after that incident and he never said one negative thing about Washington’s openly dirty play. He called LW a “freshman” but said that he was a good kid, etc. I believe LW also started the next game or played his usual minutes.
Somehow, if this had happened under CBH, I don’t think it would have been swept under the rug by CBH.

Not Pac 10 or NCAA based on Leonard Washington
Since Leonard Washington started the following game, and played 27 minutes, there clearly must not be any conference or NCAA sanctions. Sounds like Conference USA is a step ahead of the curve.
