For the Bulletin Board; Kindling for a Fire
"Bruins Show Signs of Weakness" - S.F. Chronicle
I love the timing of this article in the S.F. Chronicle. It's not that I disagree with much in it (except the part about 'everyone' expecting us to be unstoppable this year), it's just that I think the article provides the right amount of kindling to set off a blaze in Westwood. And it's timing is perfect. I was waiting to feel fired up, and this article has sparked a little inferno in me.
We aren't the same team as last year, and there are question marks to be sure. But I can't say this more stongly: Never count this freakin' team out. We might not be the same as last year, but that doesn't mean we can't beat anyone on any day this year. The second anyone starts thinking UCLA is finished, is the second this team will bring down the hammer. And I'm not talking about a little household hammer. I'm talking about a Paul Bunyan sized piece, with a killer blue ox stadning by to eat the scraps of of the vanquished. Boom!
Go Bruins Baby!!!

This year's team
I have watched them for most of their games including the December gimmes this year. in league it is obvious that the coaching vs. BH has improved 100% since 4 years ago. The ASU coach is very good, and even Romar has started paying attention to detail. The team this time lacks at times the will do finish the job. Either players are waiting for DC, who might be tired late in the games, or someone else to do it (I believe JS is capable fo the the big shot but struggles to sustain himself for most of a half), so maybe leadership is an issue. Just because someone is a senior doesn’t make him a leader. The frustration from last week expressed by the freshmen may be healthy. BH is smart and should exploit that to get them focused for the whole time.

That shouldn't surprise anyone
The difference between now and 4 years ago is that this program is now of elite status. The incentive to beat us has increased proportionately. Our game is now the one that coaches and players have circled on their calanders when the schedules come out. While CBH must prepare for every game in relatively the same way, the opposition likely spends a disproportionate amount of time focused on the Bruins. That’s the burden of being an elite program, and I’m sure CBH would rather have it this way than the other way around.
