NCAA Rumors Re SC?
Floating around Bruinzone and stumbled across this...

The key quote is this one...
[quote removed]
The poster goes on that he has no idea about the rumor.
However, it has long been my take that there is no way the NCAA goes after SC while they are a key player in the National Championship race. With virtually all of their D gone, offense would have to carry the day for SC next year. Now Sanchez is gone, so the offensive will be a big question mark as well. One has to wonder if that is perhaps one of the reasons Pete lobbied Sanchez so hard to stick around? And one also has to wonder if looming sanctions were one of the reason Sanchez decided to leave? Personally the fact he has his degree (or will in May) plus the lack of other big QBs coming out is enough, but if he felt the NCAA was coming, it makes his decision an even easier one.
If SC is a top 5 team, the NCAA probably stays away, no wanting to screw up their BCS plan, but if they slip from that level, the NCAA can go after them and not screw up their BCS Championship game.
With a new head at the NCAA coming soon (Brand recently stepped down) it might be an interesting couple of months coming up.
Note: I removed the link and the quote because I believe that this info came from Bruin Report Online's premium content. Please remember the rules re premium and subscription based content from other sites. Thank you. --Ajax

Interesting
But from what I have heard, their QBs are capable of taking over for Dirty. It makes it all the more questionable why Cheety acted the way he did.
Since I don’t live in LA anymore and am not bombarded with the trOJan ass-kissing media, do they have anyone else coming out early? That might be more of a tell-tale sign.
Also, if rumors were going around, I think Cheety would have jumped to the NFL a few weeks ago, and now it’s too late (i.e. intent letters will be signed next week and there are two NFL head coaching spots left).
I would like to think justice is finally going to be served, but I won’t hold my breath.

I'll believe it when I see it.
If the NCAA had ANY interest in enforcing its own rules against USC they would have done so a long time ago. Furthermore, I believe they’ve had enough incriminating evidence for a very long time.

Hmmm
I subscribe to Bruin Report Online and I can’t find this. I am just wondering the gist of this story so I can look myself. Free the 16, can you tell me the name of the post where you found it so I can go myself and read? Thanks!

nevermind
I found it, Well, like MexiBruin, I’ll believe it when I see it but wouldn’t that be AWESOME! I’d pay to see the look on Petey’s face.

Glad you found it
Anything you can share about it or is it purely premium forum material?

I just found out the rules myself
I tried to post something I saw there, not thinking and It was taken down. I totally understand why, I just hadn’t thought of it before. I don’t know what is allowed for me to share but it was just the basic feeling that some sanctions could come down on $c. I don’t want to go too far so I’ll leave it at that but just the thought of it makes me glow with elation. lol!

And sorry
If I violated content rules, but it was off a free site so I didn’t believe it would be an issue versus posting subscriber only content.

You are fine
You can post content from a free site/board as long as you link back but as 11 mentioned we don’t allow posting content which is premium/subscription based unless you have gotten permission from the writer of that original content. You can of course refer to the subject header of a premium post or the top lines of a premium article (that can be viewed publicly) as long as you link back.

Then I am confused
I linked to a free Bruinzone post which does talk a little about something he read on a premium board. So it would seem it is one step removed.
Can the subject header be included if not the actual Bruinzone or Bruin Report link? Otherwise my post looks a little too much like the transcript of a Nixon tape.

No need to be
You were fine. Why did you remove the link/quote from bruinzone? As I mentioned above “can post content from a free site/board as long as you link back”.
You were good.

It was my understanding...
…that the quote was taken from somebody on BZ from BRO premium. Just because someone on BZ cut and pasted premium content from BRO does not open it up for distribution by others. It’s like possession of stolen property, so to speak.
If that’s not the case, my bad.

Appeared to me
He was summerizing versus directly quoting. That may be reason as well for removal, however if so, can the name of the thread be substituted for where the link is removed and have the quote area deleted if it is not appropiate?
Otherwise, like I said, it looks like an old Nixon transcript.

OH PLEASE!
BABY JESUS LET THIS BE TRUE!
Or is it merely propaganda made to get us riled promulgated by a person more sinister than Orenthal “Stab” Simpson?

Can we at least have the gist of what the rumors are about?
I can’t tell what people are getting excited about. Based on what’s taken place in the past, I won’t believe any obituary I read about justsc unless I see the stinking, filthy, rotting, corpse myself. The fix seems to be in place fairly well at ncaa galactic supreme headquarters.

It's not anything concrete
but it’s just a credible writer saying that “sources” are reporting that the NCAA is getting closer to finishing their investigation. Also, that more “sources” say sanctions are coming. It’s nothing specific but enough to give a small ray of hope! I will believe it when I see it though!

Personally,
I’m just so sick and tired of the ever-growing mountain of evidence that the Trojies constantly cheat, lie, break damned near every rule the NCAA-holes have ever had…I just say BAAAAGHH. I’m with Fox, they’re not going to get into trouble for anything, ever.
As long as my team stays responsible—at which they are exemplary—I will be satisfied.

Yikes
When a trojan friend of mine told me that all we talk about is USC on our websites and that’s why he post and reads our blog I was thinking that was BS, but now I can see that he was right, we are obsessed with SUC. Just ranting here, I know if i don’t like it don’t need to read it. But I agree with posters above that unless something actually happens to SC and they are punished by the NCAA, I am tired of hearing about this subject because I also do not believe anything significant will ever happen to SC as long as we continue to have the same people in charge of the NCAA, just like to government, you can never count on them to take care of you.

If you're tired of reading about this
then why did you do just that? No one here owes you anything. If you don’t want to read it, go to another post. This is a Fanpost, members can write there about anything they want. You’re welcome to contribute something instead of complaining about the content.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.

Agreed
Fanposts are just that – stories posted by fans that may or may not be of interest to you. I still like to see updates on the various sanction possibilities and continuous infractions committed at $c. It’s a matter opinion and people can read what they want and I like the variety.

I agree with 11
It’s always refreshing to me to see that there is some constancy in the universe. justsc cheating is one such constant. The ncaa being “about ready” to do something about it is another. Alas, the fact that the ncaa never actualy does anything is the reality that I have had to live with all my life.
And there just may be a benefit flowing from these posts. Suppose the worldly naive 8-year old child of Inspector Clouseau, I mean an ncaa enforcement guy, reads something and says “Daddy, why don’t you do anything when there’s all this irrefutable evidence.” (Lots of 8-year olds say “irrefutable.”) Maybe, just maybe, some ncaa guy will feel a sense of shame and actually do something. Now I must leave. In the reality I just described, I have a meeting with the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

If the NCAA
were not a bunch of incompetent, toothless boobs, then the angst and frustration level would not nearly be as high.
Frankly, I think Yahoo Sports knows and cares more about the violations at Southern Cal than the NCAA does.
Let’s face it: If Southern Cal had a terrible football program, no one would care if they cheated. The fact that they get superstars like Reggie Bush who help bring them tons of victories (and the bucks that go with those wins) is a problem because it appears that at least some of these extraordinary athletes may have received cash or other special treatment in violation of NCAA rules. If SC lived by the rules, maybe they would not be quite so successful.
It is simply unfair if some schools abide by the rules and others do not (and suffer no adverse consequences). Therein lies the frustration.
UCLA is a rival of SC. Montana State is not. So there will be more chatter about SC and the ineptness of the NCAA in a Bruin community than among fans of other schools. So it goes.

Waiting for the NCAA to Punish $C
is like Waiting for Godot. Bush, Leinart, Jarrett, Mayo, now Derozan – the list of players obviously being paid goes on and on. And just like if you find one rat in your house, you know there are others you don’t see. That the NCAA does nothing in light of publicly available information showing clear payment to players makes a mockery of their rules. They should be honest about it and just say that it is ok to pay. I’ll believe rumors that the NCAA is about to punish $C when it actually happens, and I’m not holding my breath.

You are too cynical!
Everyone knows that USC personnel and institution are always treated evenhandedly, without preferential treatment, and always receive precisely what they deserve from the NCAA and the American criminal justice system.

Well, let's put it this way.
Star player goes to play for Timmeh instead of for a real coach at a real school. He has to know that justsc has no realistic shot at going far in the tournament, whereas he probably could have had his pick of a better team. He has to know that Timmeh has earned his reputation as not improving the skills of any of his players. He has to know that there will in fact be no actual education for him at that place. What’s left other than being paid?

Does giving a scholarship to DeRozan's untalented buddy constitute payment?
I would say that it does, since otherwise Lil Romeo would have to pay his own way. Granted, an $C scholarship shouldn’t be viewed as being worth that much. Also, this story seems to indicate that money is changing hands a la Mayo: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/news?slug=jo-derozan011509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
