Once again
Yahoo Sports is on top of stories of foul play at South Central while L.A.’s Fishwrap of Record says nothing.
Kind of strange, huh?

justsc's athletic department sets the record straight.
There is no more need for rumors or speculation about justsc and this year’s version of OJ2. According to the linked article (which I really hope wasn’t the fishwrap), justsc’s athletic department said this “Throughout USC’s recruitment of DeMar DeRozan, the coaches and university followed recognized procedures ….”
We all know what justsc means when it says we “followed recognized procedures.” That means they paid him cash, got him a car, got him a plasma TV, got his parents into a new house, took care of any criminal issues he might have had, made sure that his agent’s phone number was on the speed dial of the untraceable cell phone, etc.
Nice job, trOJans. It is refreshing in these turbulent times to know that some things will never change.

"recognized procedures"
… and what about the unrecognized procedures?

But This Is Way, Way Less About DeMar
Than the greedy a______s he’s played jr ball for and to whom he is related. I mean, this isn’t him wearing expensive jewelry, having plasma TV’s delivered to his dorm room and driving a flashy car, it’s the cowards around him trying to buy and sell him for cash and “futures.”
I may be missing something, but I’m not going to paint this kid with a broad brush just because he’s unfortunate enough to have a truckload of gold-digging people around him, including Tim Floyd and his own brother.

BG, I think you're being too charitable
We have a whole squad of guys who have fundamentally the same talent level as Derozean. He succumbed to the dark side of the force, though, and our guys didn’t. Derozean has to be held accountable for knowing he’s not supposed to be paid as an amateur athlete. He might have been guided as a kid to a particular team by someone who got paid for giving that guidance, but now he’s a freshman in college and is presumed to know what he can and cannot do. You don’t hear these sorts of rumors about our guys. I think it’s a fundamental difference in character. Our guys have it, and have it strengthened under Coach Howland as part of their UCLA experience. Timmeh’s boy don’t seem to have it, and cannot possibly learn it on that campus. Character counts.
