[Updated w Original Letter] My letter to the L.A. Times on Cheaty Petey
I continue to watch in disbelief at the classless nature of Pete Carroll during USC games.
From the obvious teaching/condoning of helmet-to-helmet contact, to the whooping it up after every score or big play, to the occasional non-handshake walk away after his few losses.
Most importantly, what does this teach our kids? It's OK to thumb your nose to sportsmanship, to show up opposing players by "celebrating" big plays, it's OK to play dirty.
After all, when you're a "rock star" in L.A., as Brent Musburger exclaimed during the Rose Bowl telecast, anything goes.

From the obvious teaching/condoning/encouragement of helmet to helmet contact, to the whooping it up after every score or big play, to the occasional non-handshake walk away after his few losses…this from a man who also flashed the "choke" sign at an opposing kicker when Carroll was a professional coach.
I understand he has done some things in the community and saw the 60 Minutes piece. My take is that this is done primarily to offset his otherwise classless nature. Would JoPa employ this type of behavior? What about Ben Howland, or even the greatest coach of all time, John Wooden? All of these coaches have or had reserved reactions after wins – and always shook hands and had good things to say about their opponents, even after losses. Pete? "I’m not sure there is a team that can beat us?" he claims – obviously overlooking Oregon St.

Just ask the ex-Raider fans and "long-time" USC fans who have been celebrating Pete’s near-decade old run.
Stay Classy Pete.

Very nice!
Good job on getting that letter published.
There were a number of letters published today critical of the Toejams’ and Petey’s lack of class.
It’s good that the general public is made aware that not everyone is hypnotized by The Humanitarian.

The "AP" Championship
And enough already with certain hacks (including Petey) promoting SUC for the AP
“championship.” Anyone who watched Utah dismantle Alabama last night can make a better argument for Utah as a co-champion (13-0 and didn’t lose to Oregon State) than for one-loss, whiny, SUC.
Utah was flat-out, thoroughly impressive last night. That should have been a home game for Bama but the Utes brought both their fans and their A-game. They came to play.

Using Petey's theory
Utah > Southern Cal.
Southern Cal is undefeated “this year” Petey said. Utah has been undefeated the entire season.

Loved the Utah win
I wonder what ol’ SMQ and his SEC Circle Jerk crew think of that. Too busy comforting one another, I’m sure.
Seriously, having a 13-0 Utah team again shows how stupid BCS is, that a 12-1 team will get the stupid-ass crystal ball. Someone needs to take charge, shake down the NCAA and the BCS and institute a real championship.
The added benefit? Once U$C chokes (just like they do in March), ol’ Cheatie will have to shut the f*ck up.

The headline for today's letters section was classic:
“In a post New Year’s daze of whine and roses”

Fantastic letter
I also enjoyed the letters discussing Cheatey Petey feeling the heat on the recruiting trail. Looks like his word is no longer gospel.

Great letter
But, why did you take it so easy on Cheaty?

Fooled me
When I first read the letter for a brief while I thought that there was a trojan who
1.) Can write coherent sentences and not that IM crap.
2.) Actually can think for him/herself and were not blinded by Pom Pom’s rhetoric.
Oh well… I still hold out hope for mankind.

We can only hope !
Did you hear the library at USC burned down?
They lost both books, and one hadn’t even been colored in yet.

WOW!
That is probably the best description anyone can come up with about the text they use…probably need to add Obama and Joe Biden in their revised edition of their new and improved coloring book…have those little dotted lines to trace the name and match the faces…better yet, but they should do connect the x’s and o’s, seems to be the only thing they’re good at doing…
kudos JohnnyBrewin!

Replacement books
It might take a while to replace the pop-up book.
