Leading by example and other thoughts
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
Full highlights will follow later tonight. But I just wanted to point out a couple of things from today's great win over Stanford. The first is about the focus after getting a big lead. With a little over that 13 minutes left in the game, Collison harries Mitch Johnson into a turnover and turns it into a fast break bucket, then pokes the ball away from Johnson and dives to the floor after it. This while the Bruins have nearly a 30-point lead. Our floor general is telling the team to stay hungry with his actions (and teaching them to be Barn Cats!).
The second point is that the program is in good hands. We are truly spoiled. Drew (the Commissioner) Gordon showed off his air show and Bobo gave us a glimpse of his potential. Great win. The Caretaker has everything under control.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

DC's dive and a swim
was the moment of the afternoon. At least for me.

AA2 Offensive Rebounds in the 2nd half
were amazing too. He ferociously snatched a few from the Stanford players. The Den gave extra “roll calls” to DC and AA2 for their defense. According to the BN poll, Arron Afflalo, DC, Luc Richard Mbah Moute, and Russell Westbrook are the 4 leading vote getters for favorite Bruins in the CBH era. They were talented in many areas, but it was their hustle play and defensive intensity that endeared them to the hearts Bruin fans. True Bruin fans know that defense is what defines Ben Ball Warriors.
Despite the high point total against Cal and Stanford, CBH and DC still gave credit to the defense first and foremost. I love the fast break points and early offense that come from our D.

And hopefully symbolic of how UCLA finishes down the stretch.
If the Bruins can hold serve at home and go 3-1 on the road to finish the regular season, they should win the Pac-10. A true team effort today, punctuated by DC’s dive up 30 and CBH’s teaching and coaching hard under the same circumstances, shows what kind of heart this team has right now. Can’t wait for SUC . . .

I love my Bruins
I was at the game, and it was over after the first ten minutes of the second half. The freshman plus MR and JK actually outplayed the starters in the last 10 minutes. AA had an outstanding game, but really Stanford doesn’t have the talent that the top Pac10 teams have. Nevertheless, we took care of business at Pauley taking advantage of our superior talent and depth. DC and JH looked hungry today.

Is it just me
or has CBH changed our offense? I have no complaints about our offense because it is one of the most efficient offenses year in and year out. However, I wanted to see what our O would be like if we opened it up a bit considering the makeup of our team. The last 2 games, we’ve been a bit more up-tempo and our guys have really been aggressive looking for their shot and taking it to the rim. Or maybe our team is finally listening to CBH who has been quote in the papers wanting our guys to attack.
I think we have a solid 9 man rotation with MR/ML/JK/DG. JA will probably get some minutes based on need. I liked the fact that the 2nd unit got a lot of time on the court. This will only help in the 2nd half of the Pac 10 and come tourney time.
Glad our boys shut up the doubters who were writing us off.

1 more thing
Did Lew teach Bobo that SkyHook? That was just pure. Hang in there Bobo, your time will come.

We are playing better D and Rebounding
It is easier to run off a turnover or rebound and that’s what’s happening.
Our D feeds our O.
Before this weekend, we were not playing our best D and we were getting beat on the boards.
At least, that’s what I think.

Re: Set Offense
Just one opinion, but it seems like we’re trying to make more entry passes into the block to either attack the basket or kick out to the open baseline jumpshot if that defender comes in to help. Probably always been part of the offensive scheme, maybe just being emphasized more.

USC completed the sweep of the bay area schools
Looks like Wednesday’s match up is going to be an important game conference wise.

The cupboard is full
From the looks of it, we’re stacked with talent for next year as well. Even though they played mostly during so-called garbage time, Gordon, Anderson and Morgan were fun to watch.

I'm sorry, but
Gordon is a absolute beast!!!!!!!
I think he is the X factor come March.
So long, so athletic and emerging as a really nice defender and aggressive rebounder down on the block.

Has anyone else noticed
the improvement of Roll and Dragovic? It seems like each one is becoming more multi-dimensional. Roll is taking it hard to the rack and setting up alley-oops for Gordon. He is also knocking down threes off the dribble. Dragovic is becoming more selective with his shots (75% from 3 yesterday) and has improved his rebounding and defensive tenacity. He also is showing some impressive passing ability—setting up AA2 and JS for numerous layups off of back door cuts. There have been games where all these guys were good for was jacking up threes. It seems like (if they can keep it up) those days are behind us—a big development IMHO.

Actually
We have made that observation few times here on BN in last few weeks.

Roll
Many of us think Roll has consistently been under rated because his 3 shooting wasn’t as proficient as it is now. It has been good, but this year it is much better.
However, he has always hustled, played reasonably good D, and been one of the better passers, particularly in feeding the interior.
Add to that a more consistent 3, and we see a MR that is playing on all cylinders and reaching full potential. After his injuries and physical struggles, this is great to see.

Thanks for posting the collison dive into the bench...
I brought my son to his first Bruin game (outside the womb), and was distracted by him during that play, and forgot to set my tivo. Great hustle and intensity this whole week! Great games coming up, hopefully the boss will hook me up with some more of his season tixs. F the trojans
