Anti-BCS
His vote looks like an anti-BCS thing to me, which is ok with me except that Utah should be number one.
Better record, beat Oregon State, better team.

sorry
but people need to see the truth behind Utah. they’re a good, solid team, but they don’t deserve to be #1. everyone’s all hyped up on Utah because they beat Bama in the Sugar Bowl but if you really payed attention to the Sugar Bowl, you would see that Bama was playing with 3 backup offensive linemen (1 starting all american lineman was lost 3 days before and another lineman was lost during the game. hard to develop chemistry and continuity when the line is being shuffled like that, let alone pass blocking and opening holes in the run game). i don’t know any team in the nation that can overcome that kind of loss in personnel and still beat a quality team like Utah. and that kind of loss is more devastating to a team like Bama because their O-line is basically the foundation of the team and the offense (an offense that is predicated heavily on the run). you might say that Bama’s O-line isn’t the one that gave up 21 points to Utah in the 1st quarter. that may be true, but offense and defense feed off each other. when the offense is going 3 and out, the defense doesn’t have time to rest and adjust. you can see that once Bama’s O-line started to get it together a little bit, and the defense had time to adjust, Bama won quarters two thru four 17-10. it wasn’t a blowout by any means.
also, all of Utah’s tough games were at home this year. they didn’t have ONE true/tough road game. unless you count the game at Michigan a true/tough road game. their three biggest wins before the Sugar Bowl were Oregon St (after a big win over SUC), TCU (if it wasn’t for 2 missed field goals by TCU, Utah would have lost that game), and BYU (who was overrated anyway). all three games were at home. i would have to say even TCU is a better team than Utah.
Utah’s a good team and they had a great season. but let’s not get carried away. either Florida or SUC (as i much as i hate to admit it) would beat Utah on a neutral field. handily. Bama at full strength would have beat Utah as well. by double digits at the LEAST.

err...
Making the assumption that Utah would automatically lose to Florida and Suc, especially after punching bama in the mouth, seems pretty rash. I figure you’re one of those folks who wrote off Utah before the Sugar Bowl, which by the way is a de facto home field for Bama. I know I did, and boy was I proven wrong. Utah may not have sole rights to claiming the #1 spot, but they have a compelling argument as the only team that ran the table for the entire season. And don’t blame everything on luck. That’s just part of the game.

I really did pay
attention to the Sugar Bowl and my original opinion stands. Thanks.
Lots of hypotheticals in your “anaylysis,” and if pigs had wings, they could fly, too.
Bama was manhandled by Utah. Period.
We’ll never know how SUC or Florida would have matched up against Utah. Using your logic, if Oklahoma hadn’t choked in the redzone twice in the BCS game, then I guess Florida wouldn’t be looking so great about now.
I’m not really interested in the “what if” game. I don’t have a vote in the polls and if UCLA isn’t #1, and SUC isnt’ #1, then I don’t really care who is #1.

Cson, this is classic justsc logic
Alabama should have won, but Utah won. Nonetheless, there are compelling reasons why Alabama should have won, and there are excellent reasons why they didn’t win, and all of those things put together say that Alabama should have won, so let’s just say they did win.
Same for justsc. They should have won against Oregon State, and there are tons and tons of reasons why they would beat Oregon State if they played again, so let’s just say that justsc did win.
Of course, Florida should have won against Mississippi. And Texas should have beaten Texas Tech, who should have lost to Oklahoma, who really should have beaten Florida, which had no reason to beat Alabama..
So what you’re saying, Cson, is that in the true championship game between justsc and Alabama, justsc should easily have won.
And voila, another championship for Cheatie Petie!
I didn’t notice that Senora Ross was now teaching Logic 101 over at Figueroa Tech, but it seems to me that you aced her class.

no argument there

i’m not saying Utah’s season was all luck. and i’m not saying luck isn’t part of the game. like i said, Utah is a good, solid team. but everyone saying they should be #1 is taking it a little overboard.
