Oregon @ UCLA: Sights and Sounds
Another tough loss heating up the Bruins blogosphere. Take a little break from that and enjoy the other things that were going on at the Rose Bowl.
First up, sky divers!
More after the jump.
The band put on its usual great pre-game show.
At the half, the 2009 inductees into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame were introduced.

Tyus Edney

James "Cap" Haralson (1920's Track & Field, football, basketball and baseball)

Cade McNown

Stein Metzger (setter, volleyball 1993-96, three national championships)

Nicolle Payne (goalkeeper, water polo 1994-98, three national championships)

JJ Stokes

Daiva Tomkus Fuerst (volleyball 1986-89, 1st team All-American 87-88-89, two NCAA Final Fours)

Walt Torrence (guard, basketball 1957-58-59) represented by wife and son.
Too bad we couldn't suit up Cade and JJ for the second half. Wrapping up, here again is the UCLA Band.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I did notice
that the band actually was part of the football teams run on for this game, this is new isn’t it?i was sorta happy to see that they’re trying to do more with the run on

You're right
This is new. Athletics (i believe) asked us to do a tunnel for the team to run through every game. Usually the band plays mighty bruins to get off the field, but instead we will now be using it to form a tunnel for the team at every home game

I loved it
It was something that I’d always wanted the band to do and never understood why they didn’t. It was good to see the band out there.

it actually
used to only appear on senior day, but i guess the late gordon henderson decided to copy the tennessee run in with some weird california shape
There's no one in the world that wants to beat UCLA more than _______.

the tunnel
The tunnel used to only appear on senior day, as that is when athletics would request it. The band does it’s best to match what athletics asks of us, which is why this year we are doing it more often. I also believe this is the shape of the tunnel we were asked to make

As Always -- Thank You!!!
Win or lose, it’s always great to feel close to home.
And, I’m sending Jen the band and guard video’s to keep her flame burning.

Another Thought:
My Dad was one of the studio musicians on the score of the Big Country — and I love hearing our band play it.
How cool would it be to see my daughter marching to that music with them? Oh please, admissions people …..

HOF inductions
Have to say I got a little choked up with the inductions of Tyus, Cade, and JJ. Too bad they’ve each used up all of their eligibility. Congrats to all.

LATE Gordon Henderson?
Uh…Gordon isn’t dead…And in reality, this tunnel isn’t new. We’ve done it sporadically for years. It hasn’t become a fixture yet, but it’s well charted and equally well-balanced sound-wise. I love marching it, because my last set is on the 50 XD.
