i was lucky enough to be a bruin cheerleader for the 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons and got to see first hand COACH at work…it was such a privilege to sit on the floor at PAULEY for those 2 seasons of UCLA CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS…memories i will always cherish…HAPPY BIRTHDAY COACH!

Really fitting for Coach and a great reminder of his service during WWII.

haha. I just watched Band of Brothers so the song was fresh in my memory.

I’ll never forget my first memories at ucla seeing coach signing autographs at ucla and never wanting to turn down a single one.

A truly memorable experience was when I was volunteering at the UCLA Santa Monica orthopedic hospital and a fraternity brother and I whom I worked with wanted to say hello to coach wooden. We didn’t want to overstep our bounds but finally decided to just introduce ourselves and just tell him how proud we were to call ourselves bruins because of his work and character.

Rather than just brushing us off and just accepting our gratitude he proceeded to thank us for stopping by and then introduced us to his entire family who were sitting with him. He told us a story about his time in college and how we should always maintain our character.

It was such an honor to give us such attention and advice I will never forget.
