Brendon Ayanbadejo: A Bruin Scholar and Athlete
Yet another fine example of the quality individuals who walk the halls of our great institution. BA wants to be the first African American AD at UCLA. I wouldn't bet against him.

Actually
Brendon actually cost us a National Championship by straight up faking an injury to retaliate against Toledo about some stupid disagreement about black wristbands to represent an African-American Cause on December 5, 1998 in Miami, Florida. The cause was reputable, but the reaction was anything but. He also headed the group that asked for the permission to wear the wristbands, and I still think that he and the group he was associated with threw that game for the Bruins

But here it is, so mysterious, but still looking for the quote. I’ll get back to you.
In short, the players silently threw a game that Toledo f’d up on with his decision about the wristbands

I'm far from convinced...
While I agree Brendon and his teammates’ actions may have caused unwanted distractions before such a huge game, I find it hard to believe that he faked an injury and conspired with the defensive players to throw a college football game. That is a pretty serious accusation to make in the absence of any evidence, and throwing a game would have done nothing to advance the cause. Although it was a difficult situation, I think Toledo shares much blame for not squashing the issue immediately (similar to how Coach Wooden handled the war protesting bb players).
There is no doubt the defense played a horrible game, but E. James made a lot of college and professional defenses look bad in his career. Here is a link to an op ed on the other side of the issue: http://articles.latimes.com/1998/dec/10/sports/sp-52650?pg=3
Completely agree
If ucla13_usc9 cannot prove the accusation of Brendon faking his injury, I’d like him to take that back.
