BN Gameday: California Pre Game Thread
We have little more than another hour and half to go till our game kicks off. Meanwhile, there are some great football games going on early this am (am for those in the West) to take us to the game thread.
Texas-Oklahoma are getting it on in the annual Red River shoot out. It's a defensive battle early on. Sam Bradford came in early but left the game (didn't get to watch why he left). The Sooners are up by a score of 6-0. Speaking of defensive battles, tOSU is up by 7-6 over the Boilermakers and the Hawkeyes (#11) are down 3-10 against Wisconsin at Camp Randall. All pretty fun games to keep track off. Full ESPN scoreboard here.
Are there other actions we should be aware of? Don't forget to get your pregame guesses in BTW. We will close that thread when our game thread goes up at 12:00 pm PST.
Let's get it going in our Saturday pre-game thread.
GO BRUINS.

Afternoon Guys
Flipping back & forth between my alma mater, Iowa and Wisconny and the Red River battle. Bradford landed on that injured shoulder again and from the reports I’ve been hearing his return to the game seems unlikely.

Bradford
I really feel bad for the guy. I know he has an insurance policy, but I think those only kick in if the player suffers a career ending injury. Bradford’s injury isn’t career ending, but how many millions of dollars will he lose if he drops to the late first round? This is precisely why it’s hard for me to ever fault a kid for coming out early.

yes
Assuming that my recollection from sports law is correct, those policies do only kick in in case of a career-ending injury. On top of that, those policies are expensive; Joakim Noah, for example, paid nearly $200k for his 1-year policy. I would imagine that Bradford, with the greater chance of a critical injury + the greater payout that an expected top-5 NFL pick can expect (compared to NBA rookie scale) has got to be a bit higher than that.

But they’ve been finding ways to win games; especially on the road. I just wish our guys could be doing that.

I just hope ...
… Yoda Chow and Neu can agree on the PLAY calling. If our OL can protect, I just hope to see some run / pass mixed plays. The young hungry QBs need that experience. Am I way off or about right N?
Well
I think Chow and Neuheisel are on the same page. They probably disagree 4-5 percent of time which is reasonable with two great offensive minds. So I disagree with the notin they have to get on the same page.
But I agree with the need for our OL to get better and the need for good mix of pass/run.
Thanks for that reply
After the last two games, I was just confused at the offensive strategy. Meeting Rick personally, I really want to see his vision unfold and manifest into the level of greatness he publicly expressed to us alum. I am counting on his staff (ie. Yoda, et al) to execute his vision. Today’s game is critical.
