Great video of Matsiko Children's Choir from Uganda singing the Bruin fight song, Mighty Bruins, at the Rose Bowl during the third quarter break last weekend. If our guys on defense (and wide receivers) play with the same passion, these kids sang the fight song, we may have a shot against Arizona this weekend.

I liked the way they did UCLA Fight Fight Fight twice at the end...
..and by the way…why is our yell crew/spirit squad/whatever trying to get everyone to do the 8 clap so slow? Fans want to go fast and they’re messing it all up. Sounds bad when everyone isn’t on the same page.

it should be slow
I think the more..seasoned alumni agree.
It sounds more coordinated when it is slow, you can hear all 8 claps. When they do it fast it’s more like 6, 9, 13, or however many random clappings before the U C L A Fight3X

Not that slow
At hoops games the 8-clap is fast and crisp, and it works – less people in a smaller place. At the Rose Bowl, the 8-clap has to be slower to be together… BUT lately the yell crew/spirit squad/whatever (and by whatever I assume you mean Geoff Strand) have gone too far in the other direction – it’s been so slow that it falls apart, some people are hitting the “Fight” while others are still on the “L”. It’d be great if everyone held a methodical, slow pace, but it’ll never happen with so many people. The leader should start it off (slow and deliberate, but not too damn slow) and let the crowd dictate the pace once we get to the first “U”. When that happens it does tend to speed up, but is far more cohesive. Instead of “Nice and slow!” the admonition should be “Not too fast!”
Back on topic, the children’s choir was definitely a highlight of the day, better than anything on the field except Franklin’s run.

Awesome!
I’ve seen these kids perform 3 times…an amazing group of individuals. So cool to see them at The Rose Bowl.
