[VIDEO] Spencer Havner Rocks!!
Since the state of our Bruins Football team is so bleak, I get my football kicks and love from watching former Bruins do well on Sundays.......and today was great. I expect the great days from the MJD's of the world, but today was special, at least it was for me. I was watching the Green Bay vs. Cleveland game (Directv and fantasy football collide) when out of nowhere Aaron Rodgers throws a pass to a speedy tight end who rumbles and outruns the secondary and dives for a touchdown!! That was all fine and good until the announcer said "That's backup Tight End and Linebacker Spencer Havner".
NFL Week 7 - Green Bay Packers vs Cleveland Browns 31-3 (via 555OO555)
I consider Havner one of the best Bruins ever to play in one of the worst Eras of UCLA football, the Karl Dorrell Era. That may not be saying much but Havner was a great, yes great, Bruin who always gave his best on the field. He was a true Bruin in every sense of the word. He played hard and clean, but always with a small chip on his shoulder. He wasn't a blue-chip recruit, but worked his ass off to become a contributor on Sunday afternoons for one of the most storied franchises in all of professional sports.
The first thing I did when he scored was to tell my 9-year old son that Havner is a "former Bruin". I might be gushing too much, but on a day where I was extremely upset about the Bruins performance in Arizona, a reserve Tight End in Cleveland managed to put a little happiness in my Bruin Heart! Way to go Spencer!!!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Thanks for posting this muircoach – I just saw this highlight on SportsCenter, and came here to check if anyone had posted it yet. ESPN gave Spencer props for this TD and a tackle on the following kickoff coverage. Here’s a link to the video highlight on NFL.com:

as long as we're looking at former UCLA LB's
I think it was posted earlier in the season, but I loved this sack by Brandon Chillar

Btw, Jt34- that is a sweet feature to start a youtube video at a specific time point. I didn’t know you could do that. Very cool.

Havner
Was a Bob Toledo recruit and a fantastic LB.

Being that I married a Cheesehead
I saw this and told Jonathan to cheer louder since Havner is one of his favorite Packers. Brandon Chillar is the other (and he is also becoming a fan favorite in Green Bay).

Some more on Havner
After that touchdown, he assisted with the tackle on the kickoff. He has been very versitile in Green Bay.

Peter King gave SH an award ....
in MMQB …
Special Teams Player of the Week
Spencer Havner, TE, Green Bay
The third-team tight end had two of the biggest plays, back-to-back, in the Packers’ lopsided win at Cleveland. With the Browns up 3-0 early in the second quarter and fellow tight end Jermichael Finley injured, Havner took a pass from Aaron Rodgers and rumbled 45 yards for a touchdown, giving the Pack a lead it would not relinquish. On the next play, the Green Bay kickoff, Havner shed a double-team block by two ineffective Browns and slammed into the best special-teamer alive, return man Josh Cribbs of the Browns, and stopped Cribbs at the Cleveland 30.

As long as we're talking about Havner
Here’s one of his finest UCLA moments:

And yeah, I know the Dorrell era and everything about it sucked ass (or at least that’s what I’m continually told), but that game and that moment was definitely the high point.

Looked like a little different technique on the tackle
It didn’t look like he was just trying to blast into the guy, he also had his arms out and was wrapping them around the guy (althought that was tough because a split second after the initial contact, the guy was cutting a huge divot in the turf.). I would like to see tackling like that by our current defense.

I was sitting here thinking to myself
“I wonder why we never saw Havner at Tight End.”
Then I remembered. I miss you, Marcedes.
