Will Jet Ski find some Bruin magic again? Photo Credit: jgtitan (flickr)

I think this is the first game thread in the history of this blog during which none of us will get to watch our Bruins on live television during a regular season football or Ben Ball game. I think we have put up game threads before for exhibition Ben Ball games that weren't shown on television. So this is a first.

The UCLA ISP Sports Radio Network (KLAC 570 AM) is broadcasting the game with Chris Roberts (yeah good luck with him), Matt Stevens and Wayne Cook. That radio feed will also be carried live on Sirius XM Satellite Radio (Channel 155 on Sirius and 104 on XM).  Fox Sports Northwest is doing the delayed telecast that will be shown on FSN Prime Ticket in the Los Angeles area beginning at 3:30. You can bet the quality of that coverage is going to be high school level production.

Anyway, for those who are wondering about weather conditions the latest forecast from weather.com predicted showers this morning in Corvallis but it was supposed to become "less numerous during the afternoon hours" with a high of 59F. If you want to get caught up on our chatter leading up to kickoff here is our full coverage.

Guess some of you will be disciplined enough to shut yourself out from internet and television and tune it at 3:30. I will be clicking through online sites such as the the official game tracker, WWL, Sportsline.com, and the Daily Bruin tweeter feed to keep track of the game. Also, if you are listening to the game or even better attending the game, it will be awesome if you can post updates in our thread below.

Star-divide

Given the game week have had and all the frustrations from last 4 games, we are mentally ready for the very worst this afternoon. We don't care much for moral victories, yet here we are still hanging with our team and with each other. We have nothing to lose at this point. Here is to our coaches and players just letting it rip.

Fire away.

GO BRUINS.

Going to listen to game, delay puts the game on at a horrible time. Is the game live for the people in Oregon? Internet stream?

I thought that doesn't work for UCLA games

I am fairly sure it does not work for basketball games, so I didn’t think it’d be different for football games.

I will be watching on tape delay. I have the library, some shopping, and a quick wine/cheese party to go to to keep me distracted.

I've got it live in the Great NW on FoxNW

Usually I get hosed and have to watch Washington St live. Unfortunately, I have to Tivo the game and watch it later anywho…If anyone has the DirectTV sportspack, I think they would get the game on on Channel 687 (FoxSports NW). Go Bruins!

Feeling Much Better About My Alma Mater Now

Iowa, Stanzi looked like dogsh** for 3 quarters then turned it on in 4th quarter and now lead 35-24.

Just hope our guys can show the same type of resiliency today.

The Hawkeyes will suffer their first loss in two weeks in Columbus Ohio

Big Ten is overated. No team in that conference is really worthy of a BCS bowl.

You May Be Right But....

I just hope they come out focused for Northwestern next week. Looked like they had a rather serious hangover from last weekend’s miracle finish in East Lansing.

But yes, C-bus is one tough place to steal a win, no doubt about it. If they somehow do that THEN they should be home free as they have the goofy Gophs at home after that.

Oh Yeah....

I was at two of em’ in Iowa City; in ’74 and ’81 and both times there our guys were on the wrong end of a trip to the woodshed if you know what I mean.

Then, on January 1, 1986, our guys dough-popped Iowa 45-28 in the Rose Bowl in which Iowa came in heavily favored.

Also, one more game in ’77 when the Hawks came out to the Coliseum and Rick Bashore & Co. led the Bruins to a 34-17 win.

Game thread

So is this going to be the live via radio game thread, or will this be the thread for those waiting for the TV delay?

Of course, I don’t have the game on either radio or TV here, so I’m not sure why I care, unless the delayed TV broadcast will get streamed.

this thread

Is for live game. We will put up a ‘post game’ post after the game is over which will take note of the final score. But that will essentially serve as another thread which will be in progress along w the tape delay.

I look forward to viewing the thread after the game as I attempt to lock myself in a cave until the tv feed comes on…. Tivo/dvr has never worked for me either as friends/family/news outlets always spoil my attempt – but there’s a first time for everything….

When your offense can’t muster a drive it’s crazy that ucla isn’t down by 21. Seems like a decent job so far by D, the offense really needs to calm the F down and handle the snap.

Let's see a spark here

At this point the coaches should just coach. If a player is not getting playing time due to knowledge of the playbook then help him out for one play. Coach him & run him out there. I’m just not sure if its that NOTHING is working. Oregon is a hostile place, also.

I feel compelled to stay in the game but I'm sure glad it's going quickly

Deep in my heart, I think we can win if we just play a strong, mistake free half.

I would like to see brehaut and Knox.

We’ve only thrown 10 times, completed 6, for 6.8 per completion.

It’s the running game that is dead. 1.1 per carry.

But, in all fairness, young O line that has lost some players and depth.

It just looks like they dont want to give Brehaut a real opportunity. They pulled him after one possession. With the way its going, Im just saying it wouldnt surprise me if they threw Craft in

It made sense to put Prince back in

There was only 1 minute left in the half and I’m sure the coaches felt that Prince was better prepared in the 2 minute drill. Hopefully Brehaut will start the 2nd half

Who are you going to trust?

If you go for it on 4th and short it shows ‘no trust’ in defense’s ability to hold out and get the ball back twice, depending on your perspective. It also seems desperate – we need to get 8 points on this possession, because we don’t know if we’re going to get many other chances. I think it’s a marginal decision either way, given the score and time left at that point.

If the running game is working, then it isn’t an issue. It’s one thing not going for it at your own 46 when it’s early in the game and you are close. When it’s getting late and time is not on your side, you take everything you can get. They are going to lose if they don’t go for anyway.

From the DB
HOWARD: Nelson Rosario with a sick one-handed grab on the sideline for a 58-yd touchdown. Think Dominique Johnson against SC 2 years ago.

I think we need to do something shocking

I’d gamble for an onsides kick now. We have the momentum. We need to show some guts. And desire. And CRN has to show confidence in his team. Which he has not done for WEEKS. (Not that they have deserved it.)
