Running the ball three straight times in the red zone on the first possession of the third quarter? Norm Chow said this: "People don't understand. Tell me what the coverage was? Do you know what the coverage was? None of you know what the coverage was. The coverage necessitated that we run the football. That's all it was."

OK, I'll bite
What was the coverage, Coach? (Real question, not rhetorical, because I don’t actually know.
Another question for you, Coach Chow. Can you explain why on earth the OSU defense dicated pass in the fourth quarter? They really should have known that we were going to have to pass being so far behind. But what a break for us that even though it seemed obvious that we were going to pass, their defense was apparently geared to stop the run enabling you to pass the ball.
Or to put it another way, maybe, just maybe, the play calling was uninspired. (I really don’t know because I didn’t watch the game and didn’t even get a chance to follow it live here on the BN.) Isn’t there some pass play somewhere in our playbook that is good for a few yards no matter what the coverage is? It seems to me that they double-team all of our receivers, that would leave only one guy to put pressure on the quarterback, and we should be able to handle that.
Can anyone answer Coach Chow’s question about what the coverage was? (Again, a real question, not rhetorical.)
Now the rhetorical question. How can the guy who calls the play know what the defense is going to necessitate when he’s calling the play? How do you know in advance that the other side is not going to go with a prevent defense? Sure, there’s an audible available, but is Coach Chow saying that our quarterback got up to the line and jettisoned the short pass play and went to a running play? And if the coverage necessitated a run, why didn’t it work?
I guess I’m ranting a little at Coach Chow, but maybe he needs a rant.
To me
he sounds defensive if not arrogant with that response.
Exactly my questions 71. CMIIW but to my knowledge college QBs don’t have headsets in their helmets like in the pros. So coaches can’t relay plays to the QB on the fly upon seeing specific coverages, which means coaches have to call play prior to the snap and leave it to the QB to make adjustments. How do you know what the coverage is prior to lining up?
Another thing with poor decision making (in part of the coaches) in 4th and short situations in the red zone. We’ve seen it before: coaches spent so much time debating whether to go for it that when we do so the playclock ran down and timeout is called. After the timeout, guess what? a field goal
