Advice for out of towner
Excuse me from distracting you from the subject of football for a few minutes, but it involves the important topics of food and beer, which, like football, is very close to my heart.
I'm coming from out of town for the next home game and wondering if anybody had good recommendations for places to eat or drink around the Rose Bowl area (preferably within a 30-45 minute walk from the Rose Bowl). I see that Big Mama's Rib Shack has some good reviews and the Yardhouse is close by,...anything else?
Cheers!

Troy will fall...AGAIN!
Best place to eat is with the good people of Westwood.
Make the rounds, tell everybody you meet you’re from out of town. Somebody will adopt you and feed you until you burst.
One of my favorite Bruin Stories is about a 1st date I had once. It was actually something like our 3rd date. My girl had not only never been to a Bruin football game she had never been to a game. We drove out to the Rose Bowl on a whim with nothing but tickets and food money. But I wanted her to get a sense of tailgating so we took our time and meandered through the golf course just meeting people. She was a real sweet thing so naturally everybody loved her. When ever people learned this was a first time for her they would inevitably thrust plates in her hand and welcome her in to their party. She was really amazed by the hospitality and generosity of the people she met that day, and told me later, “It’s like one big family.”
I’ve never been prouder as a Bruin. I was beaming when I said, “Yeah. It is.”

There’s nothing like spending he morning on the golf course in the shadow of the Rose Bowl. Walk around the place and you’ll find plenty of Bruins willing to share their food and drink with you. You can meet some of our brothers and sisters and soak in the game’s atmosphere.

Wolf Burgers on Lake close to Colorado does a good burger.
That might be a little bit far.
Old Town in Pasadena has lots of places to eat, none of which I remember. Remember to go a little bit north and south off of Colorado. Old Town is a misnomer – there is nothing old there. I raised the average age about 20 years every time I went there.
My favorite place to eat (Ernies Taco House) closed many years ago. I’m sure there will be other contributors who can steer you to good spots.
It's too far to walk from the RB
While they don’t have multiple locations any more; Ernies Taco House(Ernies Jr. Taco House) still exists in Eagle Rock. It’s on Broadway by the 2 freeway. The wife and I have been there many times; she loves their spanish rice.
Old Town is the place
Booze is easy. I’m partial to the 35er at Colorado and Fair Oaks.
Burgers: Jake’s makes a good burger on Colorado west of Fair Oaks
Sushi: Wokano, A Float a sushi on Colorado east of Raymond.
Barney’s Beanery is good for a variety of food.
If you’re staying in town any longer and need more info about Pasadena, feel free to email me mantecabruin@gmail.com
Enjoy your stay in Pasadena!

For strictly food....The Hat
491 N. Lake.
Pastrami will look up at you from the plate and dare you to try and finish it all…
Overall, good burger/pastrami/chili fry joint
Looks a little far to walk from Lake to the RB….but then again, you may need a little extra exercise after eating here….
