Past, Present, Future: A Quick Outline

I just wanted to throw something together really quick before the Podcast tomorrow, and i read it over... turned out to be some pretty good thoughts, so I'll share them with you guys.

On Standord Loss

  • UCLA had too high expectations for a win this week
  • Harbaugh's Cardinal are quite obviously 1 year ahead of Neuheisel's Bruins in recruiting and development, however are roughly the same talent wise
  • UCLA's defense is winning battles, but not when they matter most, creating a snowball effect for confidence
  • UCLA's offense is going to be playing "not to lose" with Kevin Craft, and hopefully, "to win" with Kevin Prince.
  • Locke is flat out amazing

KC vs. RB

  • There is a reason Craft was starting.
  • Chow's offenses are going to be aggressive as possible without being stupid.
  • Therefore, the most aggressive setting that Chow could get into was with Craft, and it would be even worse, in my opinion with Brehaut.

Oregon Preview

  • Oregon is playing their best ball of the season
  • UCLA is playing their worst, if you could call it that, of the season.
  • UCLA has struggled with superior speed in specialist positions  earlier in the year against Bryce Brown from Tennessee, and Daniel Thomas from KSU,  and Oregon has that everyhere.
  • UCLA has played against a defense better than Oregon's this year,  but has lost against one worse than both of them, and struggled, to some degree, against the other two.
  • In comparison to Tennessee, Oregon is more talented, of course, on  the offensive line, quarterback, and wide-receiver corps, but running backs and defensive spots, aside from safeties, are generally equal.
  • UCLA will need to play it's best game on defense by far to have a shot.
  • Sound tackling, an great persuit are a must to stop a spread option offense.
  • If UCLA can shut down the run with additional men in the box, and lock down the Ducks' receivers in man to man coverage, then the team has a chance.
  • On offense, this team must be able to control the ball, but move the ball consistently enough to score past the 50, and score TD's, nothing less, in the redzone.
  • In all phases focus must be consistent. Stupid, momentum killing penalties are seemingly always harming the Bruins. Moore has already payed the physical toll.

Ya, pretty basic. Listen in tomorrow for the details!

I have a feeling we need to score 28+

To have a chance. Even if our D plays well, they will give up points — no way around it. And as much talent as Oregon’s D has, their coordinator is a man named Allioti, and his defenses are always vulnerable.

This year, Oregon’s had one good defense game (against Cal; WSU doesn’t count), and they gave up 35 to Purdue at home. Purdue could not even score much against Notre Dame’s awful defense.

In other words, Prince better be ready.

D

Oregon’s D has played well in these past two games. Although that sounds bad, I really hope you’re right

There's no one in the world that wants to beat UCLA more than _______.

You never know

That’s why they play the games. Oregon has not won on the road, and we’ve not lost at home.

Oregon has destroyed Cal and FBS wannabe Washington State but barely beat 1-4 Purdue (who lost to FCS team Northern Illinois).

I’m not saying we’re going to win, but I do think that Oregon is not as good as their last two games, and we’re not as bad as our last one.

we can't settle for field goals this game

that means at a minimum, if its fourth and two or less in their 25 yard line, you must go for it.

Field goals will not win it against a team that scores like oregon.

"when you've seen how big the world is, how can you make due with this?"

I think Tenn's

offensive line is much better/more talented than Oregon’s, my only disagreement!
