Dodgers!!!!!

Apologies to all the Bruins who are Giants/As/Padres fans or root for some other team. Just have to celebrate what happened just a little while ago involving Jackie Robinson's old team:

That was something special. As linked above Eric over at True Blue LA has the story what IMO is one of the more improbable come backs in Blue Crew's storied history.

I haven't gotten this kind of baseball rush ... since what Gibbie did in 88.

Just an incredible, awesome, amazing feeling. Cannot imagine what it was like to be at Chavez Ravine.

Always a beautiful scene when the team in Blue prevails (especially over a team in Red).

GO BLUE.

GO BRUINS.

WOW!

The Dodgers have no quit in them. You can say they are relentlessly optimistic!

I have this feeling, and I hope it is true, that this Dodger team might have the 1988 Dodger magic run in them.

Go Blue!

That sure felt like the old times

And brought back some amazing memories.

Got to catch the last two innings

Really sucks for Holiday. He must feel terrible. Amazing game though.

by Tydides on Oct 8, 2009 6:59 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

Definitely feel bad for him. And as a Bruin fan we all know the feeling (cough*Melsby*cough).

Just a crushing loss.

WHOO HOOOO!

I was looking for somewhere to comment on here – thank you Nestor! Man, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, bases loaded!? That was AWESOME! GO BLUE! GO BRUINS!!!

Well that was really nice

In fact, I am rooting for the Dodgers just so we can line up a Freeway World Series where the Angels will destroy them. Meanwhile, our Torii just hit a 3-run bomb to put the Angels ahead! However, anyone whose seen past series between the Angels and the Chowds know that there is plenty of time for heartbreak. GO ANGELS! GO BRUINS!

Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.

Last time I felt like this

was when Finley hit the walk off to get us into the playoffs

Just got home

Just got home from the game. I have never been in such a loud stadium in my entire life. The game was amazing, the fans were amazing. And the boys in blue, HELL YES they were amazing too.

I’ve been thinking about this all night on whether or not this was the best sporting event I have ever been to. It has come down to tonight at Dodger Stadium and Marvin Goodwin intercepting Rob Johnson in the final minute to send us to the Rose Bowl. Right now, they may just have to be tied for first.

I've come to the conclusion

that there is a direct correlation between my work for the Dodgers and their success.

Killing me

Nestor, I’m willing to forgive you for reminding me of this:

I haven’t gotten this kind of baseball rush … since what Gibbie did in 88.

Although the disappointment of 1988 led the A’s to just outright crush/sweep the lame Giants in 1989.

Still, Gibson kills me to this day as an A’s fan.

by Bellerophon on Oct 8, 2009 10:41 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Forgive, but not completely forget

Although it is slightly easer for me to forgive, as I did not really get into baseball (the A’s) until 1989.

Derek Jeter, on the other hand, still kills me (not helped by someone on AN pointing out today how ridiculously good the A’s werein the 2nd half of that season).

Nothing but love for the As

Great team with cool fans. Plus I love Billy Beane.

How about condolences?

2 wins down, 9 to go

Cards seemed pretty deflated after this one. Hopefully, the Dodgers can get the sweep and get the pitching staff some rest.

Btw, Nestor- I think you’re the only Dodgers/Niners fan I’ve ever met in my life. It’s quite puzzling how you somehow went astray along your NFL path. :)

Niners

I could never root for the Raiders and as for the Rams never really got into OC teams.

So between Chargers and Niners, went with the Niners.

I just need the Niners to move to LA and play at the Rose Bowl and my sports world will be aligned perfectly.

Must be happy with how Singletary's working out

They’ve been solid ever since he took over

So far so good!

If not for Bret Favvvvvvvvvvvre (damn he has been killing the Niners all his life).

by Nestor on Oct 10, 2009 8:36 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i'm

Dodger/niner fan too. I could never root for the raiders

by deluxe207 on Oct 9, 2009 11:15 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

well how 'bout that?

For me, the Dodgers/Giants rivalry is so bitter, I just couldn’t imagine rooting for any team w/ “SF” on its gear. I guess ya’ll are just more open minded than I am.

btw, I’m not a Raiders fan either.

by insomniacslounge on Oct 10, 2009 1:55 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nah

I love the Bay Area. I have written about it here number of times. I just don’t care much for No Cal – So Cal nonsense. Not into it. I don’t care for hating the Giants. Sure I love the “rivalry” in Dodgers-Giants … it’s kind of fun. But I don’t dislike the Giants the way I dislike/detest the Red Sox fans.

Amazing

Much love to the Dodgers, great win

Hahaha

Like I said … I don’t like teams in “Red.” (now again Niners are screwing up the symmetry in my sports universe).

F the Sux

I’m sick of hearing the millions of Masshole transplants whine all the time.

I’m a Dodgers fan but Go Angels.

Ending of game was AWESOME.

I walked into the office kitchen/ lunchroom yesterday about 5:50pm, and a guy had it on the TV at the bottom of the 8th. A couple of guys — including one of the bosses — walked in, and we figured, fine, let’s just catch the 9th and hope for a miracle.

Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, I jokingly let out a “in nomine patri, e fili, e spritu sancti”… and the Holiday error happens.

10 minutes and seemingly 87 foul-offs later, we’re high-fiving each other and half the office is wondering why the bleep we’re yelling so loud.
