Lay off Lamey guys
Bumped. Posted on November 15. GO BRUINS. -N
Before going out and getting shalacked by a mediocre Ole Miss team, Lame gave an interview that aired on CBS. When asked about the arrest of three of his players for an alleged armed robbery, Lame brought up a really good point. He said:
We've been here for 11 months and this is the first incident we have had.
So true. I mean, Lame has bad mouthed an SEC coach who has actually won something; told a recruit who was leaning toward South Carolina that he would end up working at a gas station if he went to play for Spurrier; promised to sing rocky top at the Swamp before even playing a game, let alone winning one; was publicly reprimanded by the SEC (twice); and forced Tennessee to self-report recruiting violations.
But guys; c'mon. This really is the first time in the entire 11 months (it's almost a year for God's sake) that any of his players have been arrested for armed robbery. Lame is a saint compared to other coaches. Kiffin should not be singled out for punishment, he should be celebrated with mad props by upstanding celebrity role models.
Just don't ask The Ogre, though. He states the Kiffin philosophy on recruiting in a pretty straight forward fashion:
We're not angels and we're not going to recruit a bunch of angels.
You can see more Ogre gems here. It actually tells you a lot about Lame and his band of thugs. Here are the other quotes I liked:
"We have 20 commitments right now. We plan to sign a full class and more. I'll sign a 100 if they let me. I don't think they will. We have a lot of guys interested in us."
On head coach Lane Kiffin's brashness: "People would love for you to be quiet and stay put and let the powers that be be the powers that be. You've got to go out and you've got to attack. That's our philosophy."
On the response from prospects to the helicopter [note: gee, I wonder where he came up with this idea?] flying Kiffin in: "The players loved it. When you bring Coach Kiffin somewhere it's like bringing Elvis. People are just attracted to him. They love him."
By the way, how funny is it that Ole Miss beat Lame and the Ogre with players recruited by the Ogre himself.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

We're not angels and we're not going to recruit a bunch of angels.
We know.

What did UTenn Expect?
We have warm feelings for the good fans at Tenn.
But what did they expect when they hired him?
Are they a win at whatever it costs school? Or do they have integrity.
If the latter, they are already in trouble — as will be their program, soon.

The fans didn't hire Lame
I know one Vol (somehow a kid from New York ended up in Knoxville.) He thinks it was a mistake to hire Lame. The super-classy Vol fans probably wouldn’t poor-mouth Lame no matter what they’re thinking, but it’s hard for me to think that the same people who were so great to our fans could possibly get behind a Cheatie Petie clone. Those two things just don’t go together.
I think the University made a mistake and the fans will prevail eventually and get that mistake corrected. Can you imagine what Bill Snyder could do at Tennessee? Or someone like him?
It is going to be very interesting ...
… to see where UDub and Tenn. end up in next 2-3 seasons. That’s all I will say for now.
To his credit
going 11 months without a player getting arresting is a big accomplishment at the last program he was in.
Lame was as surprised by no one getting arrested
as he was that Tennessee self-reported violations.
He has no experience at all with either scenario.
