Here is an absolutely heart warming video on "Operation Mend ," which took the field at the Washington football two weekends ago at the Rose Bowl. In recognition of Veterans Day, eight American heroes representing our men and women in uniform who have been injured in combat and received treatment from UCLA Health Systems Operation Mend were honored in a special on-field ceremony. More details over here.
Just another example of why I love bleeding Bruin blue and gold.
GO BRUINS.

There was an old man sitting a few rows behind us
and he was a war veteran, as evidenced by the veterans hat he was wearing. As he walked up to his seats, dozens of Bruin fans stopped him, said thank you or shook his hand. I was just sitting there thinking “Bruins get it.” It made me proud to be a member of the blue and gold community, just as this video does.

I was at this game as well...
Just about 50 feet away near the endzone… chills up and down my spine. It was a special moment indeed. My first game in many years and this was one of the highlights along with the Bruins victory of course. Thanks for posting!

Operation Mend
I’m a long time lurker on this website, but have never felt the need to contribute until now. However, the Operation Mend video has compelled me to post. There are very few unqualified positives in our society, but Operation Mend is one of them. The concept is very simple: take soldiers (male and female) in need of reconstructive facial surgery, fly them to LA, and provide them at no cost with the world class services of Dr. Miller and the rest of UCLA Medical Center for as long – and for as many surgeries – as are needed. These kids (and, to this 45 year old, they are kids) and their families, have made huge sacrifices for our country, and this program does something tangible to make their lives easier. No matter what your political affiliation – or what you think about the correctness of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – Operation Mend is worthy of your support. I urge each of you to find out more about the program and to get involved by going to Operation Mend’s website at: http://operationmend.ucla.edu/. Thanks.
Go Bruins!
Great video
I remember Dr. Miller from my residency days. He is a nice guy and a great surgeon.
Couldn’t help notice one of the vets wearing a Fontana High School jersey, my alma mater.
Go Fohi Steelers!
