ASU @ UCLA Highlights
Happen to catch the team as they arrived at the Rose Bowl. Only got a couple of shots off.

Coach Rick Neuheisel looks confident before the game

Terrence Austin is loose before his last Rose Bowl game

Logan Paulsen waves to the fans
More after the jump.
Last chance to see the best marching band in the land at home this year.

Former offensive guard Andy Meyers was Saturday's honorary captain
The start of the game had an uneasy and familiar feel: ASU's supposedly anemic offense moved the ball easily against our defense. Then, another familiar, but welcome event occurred: senior Alterraun Verner's record 4th career pick-6.
Do it to me one more time, ATV!
The first half might have ended with the Bruins holding a small lead and the Bruin faithful grumbling, but another defensive touchdown, this time by Akeem Ayers, gave us breathing room.
Nice to have Mr. Ayers for two more years!
The halftime activities are so much more enjoyable when we have a reasonable lead. The student section shows what untrained labor can accomplish and then there's the last halftime show of the season by the band.
Card Stunts!
The second half was all about ball control and senior Chane Moline provided it on offense, while the defense held up their end.
Chane Moline gained a career high 84 yards

Nelson Rosario had a quiet day, still managing 5 catches for 74 yards

Korey Bosworth puts the heat on ASU QB Samson Szakacsy

Jerzy Siewierski wraps up Szakacsy

ASU's sixth turnover allows the Bruins to run out the game

Coach Neuheisel addresses the fans
Six and five. We're making progress.

Awesome pictures!
i was under the impression that the Rose Bowl banned SLRs.. What kind of camera do you have??
It's a Nikon D40x
They allow “small,” not “professional” cameras, which I guess could be a rather subjective assessment.
I need that camera!
Mine takes great videos but not very good pictures. Especially if I zoom – if anyone is moving, blurry! Thanks for posting such great photos week after week.
GO BRUINS!!!

d40x
I picked one up last year on ebay, used floor model…. For the cost, incredible camera loving it also.
What kind of lens are you using?
Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX VR Zoom
Handy lens. Vibration Reduction (VR) makes zoom shooting a breeze.
VR
That is what I need! Is that a large lens or you have no trouble getting it into the Rose Bowl?

yes, it is a little long
It seems like this season they’ve been much more preoccupied with checking cameras. I hardly ever had any issues before. Not sure if they’ll allow me in next year with it. :(
yeah, I had a little bit of trouble bringing mine in for the Wash game
I ended up putting a small, cheap 50 mm lens on the body of my Canon 50d and then put my larger, 135 mm lens in one back pocket (thank goodness for baggy jeans) and a 1.4x extender in the other pocket; and then assembled everything once I got into my seat. It worked, but it was a bit of a hassle, so I didn’t bother bringing mine into the Rose Bowl yesterday.
Thanks for posting these, Tele.

Those are GREAT band shots
I am very, very impressed with our band. I thought the band was great when I was a student and recent alum, but this band is just magnificent. Congratulations to each Bruin who contributed his and her talent to this effort.
I cannot wait to see and hear how you guys give a clinic to those kazoo players from across town with their two lines of sixteen bars which they play over and over. Remember, Bruin band members, be kind to them. They’re in the only school they could get into, and playing the only music they can play. And all that with mums and daddums hiring teachers for them. Sort of (wait for it) tooter tutors. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)
Great Shots, Telemachus
Thanks for always sharing these.

Thanks for great pix and vids, Telemachus.
I hope you can continue in spite of “security” hassles. And special thanks for the band footage. They were especially sharp Saturday, and they should be congratulated. It takes a lot of work and commitment to produce an effort of that quality.
