Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

Darren Collison hit a game-tying 3 pointer with 7.5 seconds left and tipped the ball away from fellow rookie Brandon Jennings (drafted 10th overall) of the Milwaukee Bucks as time ran out. He then proceeded, with less than a minute left in overtime, to steal the ball from Jennings and force a foul, sinking both free throws to take the lead. He finished with 18 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Not many people expected Darren to get a lot of playing time with a struggling team and a point guard of Chris Paul's caliber in front of him. However, with Paul out, Darren has been doing his best for his team, helping the Hornets to victories in four of their past five games. You make UCLA proud, Darren. Keep it up.

Wow, thanks for the DC updates. What a great Bruin!

Way to go, DC!

And I love that he harassed Jennings twice. Jennings is a scorer, DC is a player.

I may have to start watching

I don’t follow the NBA until the Lakers make the playoffs, but now that I have a vested interest, maybe I will. DC is my favorite Ben Ball warrior and I need to follow him more closely.

Love the DC updates! I’ve actually started following some of the NBA teams just to keep track of the Ben Ball alums. :)

Twice in a week!

He had a clutch 3 and drive to rim along with a steal in final seconds against phx to lead NO to a win last week. Who needs CP3?

Saw the highlights on WWL's NBA Fast Break show.

They dedicated a majority of the recap of that game on DC. He should be starting somewhere, we’ll have to see what happens when Paul comes back. They’ve got to find a way to get him solid minutes, the way he’s been shooting and defending.

With Paul being unhappy with the franchise

and free agency only two years away, I wouldn’t rule out the Hornets holding onto DC, letting him back up Paul for a year and then looking to trade Paul.

That is realistic but

I wouldn’t want to see it happen. The Hornets are not a very good team, and the management really isn’t willing to invest heavily into making it into a great one. With a talent like CP3’s, they should be contending for the Western Conference championship every year, and they’ve been falling short year after year. I don’t want DC stuck in a dead-end team like that. I’d rather him move somewhere where even if the team is struggling, the management is serious about making the team a contender…something like what RW has in OKC.

I wouldn't say he's uphappy

or at least he hasn’t said so publicly. But yes, CP3 will demand much more money than Shinn will be willing to pay him once his contract is up.

Oh UCLA you sweet bitch, you've BRUINed me for anything else.

I think when Paul comes back they'll definitely give DC his minutes.

DC is what Paul always wanted – a quality backup PG that could give him much needed rest. It’s still weird that Tim Floyd is now an assistant over there though.

Go Collison and Go Bruins!

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

Saw the game. DC basically stole the game from under the Bucks' noses.

Here’s a piece from BDL. Was going to fanshot it but I’ll just add it to this awesome DC thread.

33 Wins. Yeah, I said it.

Anyone notice how his 3 point shot is different?

I can’t tell if it’s because he had to alter his mechanics or because the 3 point line is too far in the NBA for him to shoot “normally” but when it came off of his hands I assumed it wasn’t going to make it because he definitely “pushed” that ball toward the basket.

I haven't seen his other shots but it seems like

that one was a little far from the 3 point line, and he was being guarded pretty tightly.

No One Deserves it More

I am so happy to see him do well in the NBA and I hope that his success continues.
