Jefferson no longer a Bruin verbal
Per ESPN:
Five-star athlete Tony Jefferson (Chula Vista, Calif./Eastlake) decommitted from UCLA following an official visit to USC and will now decide for either the Trojans or the Oklahoma Sooners, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.
"The UCLA players really disrespected me before the game," Jefferson said. "When they saw me, they were all cussing at me, telling me to never come around Westwood again and things like that. These were guys that I had hung out with before and it was a lot of the team. I guess I kind of see it since I was committed there and was wearing USC gear before their big game but I still didn't appreciate it."
If true, I don't condone the cussing that Jefferson had to endure but WTF? I know its an official and all but why the hell is he wearing suc gear in the most heated and biggest game of the year. Did Jefferson expect our guys to show him love wearing their garbage?
I hope this kid picks suc so we beat him his entire career down at Fig Tech. Not losing any sleep over this. Our class will be fine and just like suc, the recruits all saw what a lowlife scum bag Cheaty is and how the gap between the programs got a whole lot closer.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I agree
except I do condone the cussing Jefferson had to endure. If you are a verbal commit why are you on an official visit wearing your rivals gear. If he doesn’t get the importance of this rivalry, then he shouldn’t be a Bruin. PERIOD.

Do you actually believe his "story"?
That he was “cussed” out? Remember UCLA cannot comment on uncommitted recruits?
Good point
it’s the perfect crime – you make an allegation against someone who is prohibited from replying at all. Nice.

Seriously . . .
wtf? This is way worse than LeBron outfitting all his gear w/ NY Yankees logos – which is odd and highly questionable for someone playing in Cleveland.

I condone everything
I would’ve condoned an ass-kicking as well. Let’s face it, he was never coming anyways. Everyone knew his verbal was as soft as Reggie Bush’s running game. F’ him.

He knew exactly what he was doing last night
The expected reaction from our guys was his excuse for dropping his verbal, without having to drop it on his own.
Yep
I’m convinced we lost him long before the SC game. No one is that stupid. Uh, well, no UCLA student-athlete is that stupid.
I also condone any verbal backlash from our players that ensued from this maneuver. They knew he was good as gone as well.
Had the situation been reversed (wearing UCLA gear as a SC recruit), Pete Carroll probably would’ve flipped him off himself.

Obviously none of us support verbally abusing any kid ...
But I doubt it even happened. Kid sounds like a natural born Trojan liar.
Yeah
If that was indeed the case, then Jefferson can leave and go where he wants. I won’t miss him if that’s the way he feels and this isn’t much a surprise considering what we’ve heard from Jefferson over the last month. Verbally abusing him is overboard though and I wish the players hadn’t done it.

Disagree, Rye
It doesn’t matter who shows up wearing just$c* colors on game day. I’m not talking about fans mixing when they come to the stadium. Basically what this guy did was try to come to a Bruin party wearing trOJan colors. It doesn’t matter if he’s a professor at just$c* or some stupid teenager or an athlete. If he’s stupid enough to wear enemy colors, then he deserves to be verbally abused. I walked into what I thought was a neutral site by the Crapaseum wearing blue and gold, only to find out it was a trOJie enclave. I was verbally abused as I hustled to leave before the stench of all those trOJies overwhelmed me. But I deserved to be verbally abused for being so stupid as to think I could wear Bruin stuff in a place like that.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you and all the mods suddenly started spewing trOJie propaganda, think of the verbal abuse you would take as people vanished from this site. And you would deserve it and understand why you’re getting it.
No, he deserved what he got.
I agree verbal abuse is overboard ...
However, I am not going to believe it happened unless we hear Jefferson’s accusation being substantiated by a dependable source. So far we just have his words and he is clearly not a trustworthy person.
That is why I prefaced it all with
If that was indeed the case. We’re on the same page here. I don’t care if he shows up wearing SC colors or whatever. I want our players to be classier than to start verbally abusing someone. You don’t go up to the guy like he’s an old friend if he’s in SC colors or anything like that, but there’s no need for verbal abuse.

The end of the game this year
coupled with his treatment of Mark Sanchez last year should be a loud and clear ringing message of Pete’s classiness.
He's a trojan all the way
I’m glad he’s not coming to UCLA. Anyone stupid enough to wear sc colors and gear in front of Bruin players right before the big game can’t have too much going on upstairs. He’ll fit right in over at sc!
disappointing.
Losing an elite-level talent like Jefferson, despite any obvious and mostly correct reasoning why it is okay (he was looking for a reason; wears $C gear before our rivalry game; had already decided not to come but couldn’t man up and say that; etc.), is never a good thing. It’s disappointing that this kid doesn’t really understand what he’s doing. Hopefully Rick can work some magic and get this kid to lighten up, because him badmouthing us to other recruits would not be helpful.

This kid obviously
is very talented but not very smart. Ask him what would have happened if he committed to Michigan and wore Ohio State gear on the sidelines at the Big House. Or since he might be a Sooner, ask him how it would go over at Oklahoma if he wore Texas gear to a Texas vs. Oklahoma game. I can tell you, it would of been worse. Forget cussing, he would have never made it out of the stadium alive.
I can’t believe the insult that the players must of felt having a UCLA commit and a guy they had formed a supposed friendship with, wearing USC gear on the USC sideline while they were getting ready to play their arch rival. Screw this guy. The more I think about it, the more I am upset with this prima dona for thinking he could respect us like this. This type of stuff was ok during the Dorrell years, and we were a joke. If the kid wants to do that type of during the NEU era, then screw him and go play for those rats at USC.
The UCLA players, whoever they are, should be commended for their pride and if they said a few choice words to a kid who showed incredible disrespect for them, then I am on their side. I give them all props for having the respect for our university to let this guy know that what he was doing wasn’t ok. Just my take. Some may agree and some will disagree, but it is nice to have players who care. I am sure Cheaty Petey gave him the gear and had him wear it knowing the reaction it would bring. If the guy (Jefferson) is too stupid to wear it, then he belongs at that second-rate thugiversity.
I fully agree
I would have been disappointed if I heard our players didn’t say anything. Your spot on, it’s a pride thing. I’ve put myself in the players shoes. If I’m a player and see a guy who supposedly is one of our recruits in sc gear, I can guarantee you I’d light him up. The more I think about it, the prouder I am of our team.
It’s funny, 9 times out of ten, when athletes are accused of being rude or disrespectful (as our guys were here) I think to myself, “come on guys, take the high road.” In this case, it makes me smile to think that our boys got so pissed off. In this day and age, when so many talented amateur athletes seem to spend their college years daydreaming about the pros and taking a laissez fair approach to repping their school (think one-and-dones), it’s nice to see that our Bruins were legitimately enraged by Jefferson’s slap-in-the-face lack of loyalty.
A cynical friend of mine has tried to convince me on numerous occasions that college athletes today are no more loyal to the name on the front of their jersey than are the professionals. This incident simply proved that this is true in some cases and false in others. Long story short, SUC can keep this mercenary moron.
I think your guys were dead on to banish him from Westwood
I’m a Longhorn and posted this story on burntorangenation and everyone completely agrees that this kid is an idiot. Some folks think he did it for attention. Any kid that is trying to decide on his third commitment is probably pretty lacking in the character dept. He sounds like he would fit in perfectly with the OU land thieves.
The only negative about the guys at BON is
that they think Oklahoma is worse than just$c*. I guess when you do what Texas did to just$c* at the Rose Bowl a couple of years ago, you don’t take them very seriously. But hey, Longhorns – compared to trOJans, Sooners are … well, I was about to say humanitarians, but I guess I can’t say that. This is not a character flaw, it just means that more education is needed in Austin and its environs.
But other than that, the Burnt Orange Nation is OK.
You gotta love Texas
for that game alone. It was fun recently watching Vince Young beat Matt Leinart…again.

I watched the Rose Parade with some Texas folks before the game
All were very nice. It seemed that we shared sentiments about their opponent.
