Now I know Why Plaschke Was So Upset

After doing some research, I think I can understand why Plaschke was so upset by CRN's timeout Saturday. You see, what Splasch realized, and the rest of us failed to understand, was that throughout the course of his despicable career at $C Cheatey Pete has rarely, if ever, passed up an opportunity to twist the knife one more time against an opponent to cap off a lopsided win. For example, I offer the following instances of SUC going for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter of blowout games (if you don't want to sift through them all, and how could anyone blame you, just check out the italicized plays, parentheticals = my commentary):

2002

Up 49-17 against Stanford with 15 seconds left, 4th and 3 at STAN 34 Hershel Dennis (USC) rushed up the middle for 2 yards; turnover on downs.

Up 45-7 with under 12:00 left against UCLA, 4th and 3 at UCLA 38 Hershel Dennis (USC) rushed up the middle for a 38 yard touchdown.

Up 52-7 with under 4:00 left against UCLA, 4th and 10 at UCLA 50 Matt Cassel (USC) rushed up the middle for 1 yard; turnover on downs.

2003

Up 61-20 with 4:00 minutes left against Hawaii, 4th and 12 at HAW 39 Reggie Bush (USC) rushed up the middle (pooch punts are for sissies)

Up 38-14 with under 10:00 left against Notre Dame, 4th and 7 at ND 30 Matt Leinart (USC) pass right side complete to Mike Williams (USC) for 9 yards.

Up 45-14 with under 4:00 left against Notre Dame, 4th and 4 at ND 19 John David Booty (USC) pass left side complete to David Kirtman (USC) for 5 yards.

Up 45-0 with under 6:00 left against Arizona, 4th and 2 at ARIZ 25 David Kirtman (USC) rushed up the middle for 3 yards.

2004

Up 49-0 with under :30 left against Colorado St., 4th and 11 at CSU 15 Desmond Reed (USC) rushed right side for 14 yards.

Up 31-0 with 10:41 left against Washington, 4th and 6 at WASH 30 Matt Leinart (USC) pass incomplete to the right side.; turnover on downs.

Up 31-0 with 7:10 left against Washington, 4th and 17 at WASH 35 Matt Cassel (USC) pass right side complete to Desmond Reed (USC) for 2 yards; turnover on downs.

Up 45-0 with under 5:00 left against Arizona, 4th and 2 at ARIZ 25 David Kirtman (USC) rushed up the middle for 3 yards.

Up 34-10 with about 7:00 left against Notre Dame, 4th and 3 at ND 39 16 yard penalty on Fighting Irish (this was a fake punt attempt, I repeat, a fake punt attempt)

2005

Up 49-10 with under 13:00 left against Hawaii, 4th and Goal at HAW 2 John D Booty pass complete to Dwayne Jarrett for 2 yards for a TOUCHDOWN. 55 10 Mario Danelo extra point GOOD.

Up 56-17 with 10 seconds left against Hawaii, 4th and 12 at HAW 29 Desmond Reed rush for 29 yards for a TOUCHDOWN. 62 17 Mario Danelo extra point GOOD.

Up 63-17 with 7:56 left against Arkansas, 4th and 8 at ARK 17 John Booty pass incomplete (I guess surpassing the 70 point barrier was too tempting to pass up)

Up 44-17 with 8:00 left against Washington, 4th and 8 at WASH 28 John Booty pass intercepted by Dashon Goldson at the Wash 25, returned for 75 yards for a TOUCHDOWN.

Up 44-24 with under 5:30 left against Washington, 4th and 1 at WASH 33 Michael Coleman rush for 1 yard to the Wash 32 for a 1ST down.

Up 44-14 with 10:38 left against Stanford, 4th and Goal at STAN 4 John Booty pass incomplete.

Up 44-14 with 7:00 left against Stanford, 4th and 4 at STAN 16 John Booty pass complete to Patrick Turner for 8 yards to the Stanf 8 for a 1ST down.

Up 59-6 with under 8:00 left against UCLA, 4th and 1 at UCLA 47 John Booty rush for 1 yard to the UCLA 46 for a 1ST down (I guess the punter didn't suit up that day)

2006

Up 44-14 with under 2:00 left against Arkansas, 4th and 4 at ARK 20 Mark Sanchez pass complete to Travon Patterson for 19 yards to the Ark 1 for a 1ST down (why go for three when you can get six, it's silly)

Up 35-0 with 5:28 left against Stanford, 4th and Goal at STAN 3 Mark Sanchez rush for 3 yards for a TOUCHDOWN.

Up 44-24 with 1:30 left against ASU, 4th and 4 at ASU 24 Chauncey Washington rush for no gain to the ArzSt 24.

2008

Up 45-7 with under 8:00 left against Virginia, 4th and 1 at UVA 38 Allen Bradford rush for 15 yards to the Virg 23 for a 1ST down.

Up 45-7 with under 3:00 left against Virgina, 4th and 9 at UVA 10 Marc Tyler rush for 10 yards for a TOUCHDOWN.

Up 35-3 with 10:08 left against Ohio State, 4th and 3 at OSU 16 Mark Sanchez sacked by Marcus Freeman for a loss of 11 yards to the OhSt 27.

Up 37-10 with 4:00 left against, 4th and 2 at ORE 16 Mitch Mustain pass incomplete.

Up 62-0 with 2:20 left against Washington State, 4th and Goal at WSU 4 C.J. Gable rush for 4 yards for a TOUCHDOWN (who wants to bet Cheatey thought about going for two in order to hit the 70 point mark)

Up 49-0 with under 10:00 left against Washington, 4th and 2 at WASH 30 Mitch Mustain pass complete to Rhett Ellison for 21 yards to the Wash 9 for a 1ST down.

Up 38-3 with under 5:00 left against Notre Dame, 4th and 14 at ND 27 Mitch Mustain pass intercepted by Gary Gray at the NDame 6, returned for 24 yards to the NDame 30.

2009

Up 49-3 with under 5:00 left against San Jose State, 4th and Goal at SJSU 13 Aaron Corp pass complete to D.J. Shoemate for 13 yards for a TOUCHDOWN. (In all fairness, San Jose State does have a top secret 50 point play in their playbook)

great research.

I remember a recent Trojan post after Stanford went for two. The Trojan was responding to accusations that Cheat Carroll runs it up all the time asking, “show me a single example when PC has run up the score on a game that’s been decided.”

I wish I had this to post back then. Great answer to all the South Central Apologists.

Never, ever take Bill Plaschke too serious

In case you don’t know, one of his cohorts, a bright articulate guy, also an LAT columnist, wrote to say goodbye one day because after some vacation, " he " now became Christine Daniels. Last I heard, she is now with Lord almighty high above. The way this Plaschke guy been kissing Trojan’s *, who knows, we may have to deal with Billie Pleshette someday. Then they will say we are picking on woman even. Oh Lordie, Lordie………

I take Plaschke and the fishwrap as seriously as I take any toxic waste site.

I avoid it. You folks living in Los Angeles have it right in your midst, but you seem to be doing nothing to get rid of it. In fact, you continue to buy subscriptions to it. Shame on all Bruins who keep funding the great trOJan propaganda arm.

I've actually never bought a copy of the L.A. Times

As a Vegas resident, I only know Plaschke’s name from this board. After seeing repeated attacks against him and his partisanship in the past I thought I’d check out the Times online following Saturday’s game. Somehow, I thought he might concede that the bomb pass was a douchebag move by PC (again, I had never read any of his work). When I saw how far he went in the opposite direction I was livid. Later, when I calmed down, I realized that trying to get an anti-SUC sentiment out of this dude would be akin to fishing for a GOP-bashing quote from the Limbaughs, Coulters and Hannitys of the world. After that realization, the only aspect of the whole thing that continues to upset me is that plenty of people surely believe that he is writing from a place of journalistic objectivity.

Yes, you do that in Florida

But then here in greater Los Angeles areas, LAT is ubiquitous, much like vermin infestations. You eradicate some and others come up somewhere.

I do my part. Whenever I caught some in sight, I shredded them joyously. Someone said shredded newspapers make good fertilizers for your home gardens. I disagreed, especially if they were LAT. I put them together in a cardboard box for my cat’s bowel convenience. He does enjoy the experience of relieving himself over them. Then I picturize PomPom’s toothy grin and his face " when the bombs fell ".

FANTASTIC RESEARCH...

The SUC Toejams will just say they are always comPETEing. What A holes. I can’t wait to shove their arrogance down their throats.

Don't bother, it's useless

I pointed this out to a couple of toejams when I mentioned that cheatey runs up the score all the time, and their responses were:
A. He doesn’t. Well, he does, but only to certain school/people.
B. Running on 4th down to get the first down isn’t running up the score. They’re just trying to run the clock out.
C. It’s not their fault their 2nd/3rd stringers are that good and the other team can’t stop them.

I wanted to punch them in the face.

Thank you again

for the great research LV. Really appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Agreed

Next time I ever get into an argument about Petey not running up the score, I’m just going to direct them here.

Thanks

For confirming everything we knew about the worst thing to happen to college football in the last 10 years. The only thing TrOJie’s understand is pain. Right now Jim Harbaugh is man of the year. We need to shell them next year. It’s on.
