Around SBN: Phil Mickelson Outshines Tiger Woods

The sports editor at the Trojan Times must have been sleeping in order to let this article get published. I'm even more surprised that it came from TJ. TJ even slams Plashke for being flat wrong about CRN calling the timeout.

I wonder how long this article will be up before U$C complains and orders it be removed.

"when you've seen how big the world is, how can you make due with this?"

this is the key point

and what I’ve been saying all along

Some people say Carroll was being gracious in having his quarterback take a knee, but in doing so he was putting Neuheisel in position again where he couldn’t win.

Has there ever been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?

When T.J. Simers is the voice of reason

at your newspaper — something is seriously wrong with your publication.

See

TJ’s hot and cold.

On the one hand he’ll write a totally hacky hit piece and on the other he’ll write something like this and host “Wooden & Scully” for charity.

He’s an enigma.

F TJ

Either he is a douchebag—which he is—-or he is not.

There’s an old saying: Even the blind squirrel finds the nut sometimes.

TJ got this one right. He has gotten 99 other things wrong. He openly roots for $C and Chetey 99% of the time and admits that he wears $C gear to UCLA games at the Rose Bowl.

IMHO, he should not be quoted, linked to, or given any attention. Just my 2 cents.

Why do I get the feeling

LAT is throwing UCLA fans a bone after getting savaged losing subscriptions since Sun?

by Nestor on Dec 1, 2009 8:32 AM PST up reply actions

Couldn't believe it myself

Just read the article (which violates my principle of NEVER reading anything by TJ), and I agree with your blind squirrel comment. I am convinced that the LAT just keeps these people around for their ability to be controversial, not because anything they say is meaningful. And he is a douchebag – most of what he writes is trash.

TJ is interested in one thing

Getting a rise out of people. This is a calculated move to get as many outraged responses as possible. Splashme already took the thunder out of saying CRN was at fault, so TJ has decided to troll the other side and state the obvious. Best part of the whole thing is that he barely has to write anything. National sportswriters have already written his column for him.

Plus he has nothing to lose really

His track record already pegs him as a certified Pom Pom shill.

It's a twig in a brush fire

and will only rile up those trOJies who think the media is out to get them.

Plaschke is a 100% USC fan, through and through

But I don’t believe the same of TJ. I think his only agenda is to criticize as much as possible. He continually throws the Dodgers, Lakers, Angels, Bruins, and (yes) Trojans under the bus. Always. That’s his thing. I agree that the Times as a whole is Trojan-slanted, but I can stomach TJ’s UCLA slams when he writes them because I know that pretty much everything he ever writes is tongue-in-cheek.

You have a stronger stomach than I do, 139

Way before I was a geezer, I thought I had a cast iron stomach. At that point, I subscribed to the fishwrap. Then an accumulation of so much trOJan bias gave me what is referred to medically as a “Fishwrappian Ulcer,” which quickly worked its way through my system where it turned into what it eventually became, a “trOJan-slanted hemmorhoid.”

Once I dropped my subscription to the ‘wrap, things got cleaned up. But that’s just me. Apparently my stomach was weaker than I thought.

I totally agree with you about Simers, though. He does write (and live his life) with his tongue in between Cheatie Petie’s cheeks. That’s another reason I don’t subscribe to the ‘wrap, don’t click on the ‘wrap, and don’t read the ‘wrap if it’s handed to me. I don’t want to contribute to the salary of Cheatie Petie’s concubines.
