If you are as angry as I am...
Then go ahead and send our buddy over at Trojan Times a little piece of your mind. bill.plaschke@latimes.com, im sure he has time to take away from his I <3 Pete Carrol love letters to read what bruins nation has to say about his ignorance. I already have sent an email expressing my disgust in his favorable words towards SUC university and how much of a hypocrite he is. So its time to sound off, not only here but directly at one of the problems in southern cal.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Be careful now, my fellow bruin
I said it somewhere here in BN that at LAT, a cohort of Bill Plaschke, for some reason, said goodbye to everyone in his daily column before a scheduled vacation. Then, upon returning, his LAT colleague, with wide eye amazement, discovered that their male colleague was now a lithe, middle aged woman called Christine Daniels. So with Bill so fervently kissing the Trojan’s posterior the way he did, he just might one day succumb to that innate tendencies too and become Billie Pleshette.
Who knows. With a wacko like him, anything can happen. We don’t want people to say we’re picking on a woman.
Not something to make fun of
She committed suicide this weekend — the end of good writer’s sad story.
To it’s credit, the LAT handled her transformation with grace.
There are other ways to attack and ridicule plaschke.
Also, as far as reminders go I try to heed Mark Twain’s advice: “Never pick a fight with a man who buys ink by the barrel.”
What that means to me is that when I write letters to people like that they have to be tight and buttoned up so that they cannot be used to ridicule me or my Bruins. We know they will pick the worst and most embarrassing of our letters to publish.

Odd sidenote
First, I agree with your sentiments.
Second, I found it very odd that the LAT called Penner “he” throughout the obit and in every mention of her death since.
Didn’t “he” become a “she?” As strange as that transformation might be, once that happens, isn’t “he” now a “she?”
Very strange.
He went back to identifying as Mike Penner
In 2008, he went back to writing as Mike Penner.
I don’t want to try to speculate at what he was feeling inside. Let’s just recognize the fact that his suicide was tragic and set aside all the speculation about his sexuality and self-identification.

I agree
I know he went back to writing as Mike Penner but did that turn him back into a “he?”
It’s confusing and I agree, it is sad. I have made this point (that his death was tragic) elsewhere on BN several times since it happened.
Pronouns
If Penner went back to calling himself Mike Penner and identifying as a man, I would personally use “he.” If he had continued to identify as Christine Daniels and self-identified as a woman, I would use “she.” Basically, follow how the person is referring to him- or herself.
