Around SBN: 2012 Budweiser Shootout Entry List Released

Center Court: Ben Ball (Concordia) Second Half Thread

ML has a different jersey number (3) this season. We need him to attack early and attack often to start the second half. Photo Credit: E. Corpuz

Ben Ball warriors are off to somewhat of a predictable sloppy start breaking in brand new starters and missing three of their key players to start the season. They are down by a score of 28-31 against a Concordia team which is treating this matchup as the game of their lives. Turnovers have been killing us a bit as we have coughed it up around 10 times.

The key for us in the second half is going to be tightening up on defense and attack the rim on offense. We have to take advantage of our size and not settle for jump shots. Our perimeter defense looks a little leaky (guess somewhat expected with all the new guys who are getting used to playing Ben Ball defense). Guys will have to focus and pick up their intensity level lot higher.

RN looks like a polished version of LMR from his freshman season. But guys ... come on ... let's make some FTs. Let's start threading for the second half.

GO BRUINS.

We are playing a lot of combinations

and it’s not pretty.

D intensity is missing and so is a sense of mission

We really miss JA and MR handling the ball

Taking the UCLA crowd out of it?

When were they ever in it? There aren’t even that many physically in the building!

We are gonna lose this game

Good thing it won’t count and hopefully they will realize they need to get their act together but it’s gonna be embarrassing to say the least

We’re gonna lose. The next wild fire will burn the campus to the ground. Monsters from outer space are bearing down on us. Sheesh. UCLABruins4Ever, you need a heavy dose of good news. by bruin8uclap on Nov 4, 2009 9:34 PM PST up reply actions

UCLA won 62-61

They were shooting lights out early on (especially from 3 bomb line). Bruins outrebounded them 41-21 but had 20 TOs. We missed 10 FTs.

DG had 17 pts, 11 boards, JK with 11 pts and ML with 11 pts. ML filed out.

MAH made the game winner 3 pointer.

Looked very sloppy. RN looked great when he was in. ND made FTs and some buckets in the second half but was atrocious. He had 5 TOs.

TH looked pretty smooth in the second half. He had some nice passes to DG. MM also looked good in spurts in second half.

Remember JA, MR and BL was out today.

by Nestor on Nov 4, 2009 9:35 PM PST up reply actions

just from the game thread, it seems like we saw our first dose of growing pains. At the very least we showed some grit to come back, should be an interesting season though. ND’s 3-13 shooting sticks out in the box score to me, thats not gonna cut it

who were we most pleasantly surprised with?

William Doolittle at your service, a.k.a. will do.
