Profile on Geoff Strand
Every man, woman and child...
Nice profile, even if it's by Marcia Marcia Marcia...in the OC Register.
But I had to point it out because Geoff was the captain on a national championship rowing team, so he's my homeboy.

That's a good story
He is a hard core fan, and I’m glad he’s doing what he’s doing.

I respect and admire what he does.
But, as I’ve mentioned in another post, he kills the very cheers he is leading.

I'm with you
I applaud his passion, but he just kills me. I think he should take running out of sweaters and hats as a sign from God that he should hang em up.

A fantastic Bruin
His enthusiasm and commitment is amazing, but I maintain that he should not be down on the field. There may have been a time when something like that was necessary and Geoff really did serve an important purpose, but no more. Now, it borders on embarrassing, over the top, unnecessary and he needs to take a spot in the stands.

Maybe you mentioned this somewhere else
But what happened to rye?
And I’m with you, I also think he shouldn’t be on the field. I think a lot of people use him as a crutch/excuse to not cheer, if not consciously then maybe subconsciously.

Didn't mention it
so why not here. I just thought it was easier to have my name on here, since it’s been mentioned many times and many people know my name anyways. It makes things easier for me and if we do look to do some more “official” things that you see from the MSM, like interviews or covering certain things, I think it’s important that I have my name attached to my work. If someone is going to trust me to do something in a professional manner, I think I should at least be willing to put my name on there and take responsibility for what I write. Plenty of people call me rye anyways so you guys can all continue with it.

A lot of people call you a lot of things, but that's another story for another day.

Makes good sense
with what you do and especially with how good you are and your professionalism in doing it.

I don't mind that he does his thing on the field
my problem is how ineffective he is. He needs to study large passionate fan bases and realizes nobody pauses. They just yell, yell, yell.
PS I have seen him do his thing in the stands. But yeah, the majority of the time he is on the field.

You won't mind him
when the team is winning on a regular basis :)
We all know how UCLA is with tradition and keeping people in some positions way too long…
But regardless of whether or not we like him on the field, I think he is a great Bruin. He’s a UCLA champion, he doesn’t just cheer for it, he’s lived it. And, he has a great career to boot. What’s more Bruin than that!
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
